Mary - still too boring or new and fresh?

I’ve liked [name]Mary[/name] for a while, but just recently it’s been moving up to be one of my top favorites. It’s odd because I HATE the idea of using a common name (since mine is so common for my generation). However, I don’t know anyone by the name of [name]Mary[/name] under the age of 50. Isn’t it time to make a comeback? I think it’s so sweet and beautiful - precious on a little girl and will age so nicely. I have a daughter named [name]Nora[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name] and if I were to use [name]Mary[/name] in the future, I was thinking [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] ([name]Cathleen[/name] is a variant of my mother’s name and [name]Eliza[/name] is a variant of my mother-in-law’s). I thought [name]Eliza[/name] is a little more quirky and fresh than the predictable combo of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

So, what’s your take on the name [name]Mary[/name]?

What about the combo [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] and it paired with sister [name]Nora[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name]?

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name] are stunning together! I love [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] as a combo too. It’s spunky and fresh yet classic and grounded

That’s absolutely perfect. I LOOOVE [name]Mary[/name]. I wouldn’t call it ‘new and fresh’ but I’d NEVER call it boring! It’s timeless and ageless and stunning. I wanted to use it so badly for my daughter but my husband has no appreciation for the classics! [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are beautiful, and the middle names would please both families!

I think [name]Mary[/name] is fabulous! I love the combinations of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (even though, as you said, it’s a little predictable) and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. I quite like the combo [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], but I prefer [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], especially with [name]Nora[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name]. [name]Eliza[/name] seems a little short.

I think [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] sounds great together. I love the combination of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] too.

It’s a simple, pretty, and classic name. I’ve noticed that many of these shorter classic names ([name]Mary[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Anne[/name]…) are often described as “boring,” but I wouldn’t let this deter you from using it. My 2nd daughter is named [name]Mary[/name] but goes primarily by her nickname, [name]Molly[/name]. The only place I’ve met other little girls named [name]Mary[/name] is at her Catholic [name]Sunday[/name] School. In a group of 30 kids, there’s three girls named [name]Mary[/name]. I knew they had to be out there since it only recently dropped below 100 on the SSA list.

I don’t think [name]Mary[/name] is boring, it’s classic and pretty. [name]Nora[/name] [name]Cathleen[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] are both great and work well together.

I would love to see [name]Mary[/name] on a young girl! I think it is great! I would pair it with a longer, more modern name, or even unisex.

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Davies[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jo[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Harper[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Dakota[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Cameron[/name]

I know a lot of [name]Marys[/name] in their 20’s and a few below the age of 10. I don’t think it’s boring at all. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is still my favorite [name]Mary[/name] name.

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is really nice. I think it has more spunk that [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I also like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Mary[/name].

I absolutely love the name [name]Mary[/name]! It’s such a classic, timeless name. I know a 5 year old [name]Mary[/name] and she’s adorable. I think [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is a beautiful combo!

I really like [name]Mary[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though it’s “common”, it’s still unexpected in a sea of Jaydens, Isabellas, and Mias. My combo is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is stunning as well, though I like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elise[/name] too.

I adore [name]Mary[/name]! She’s such a strong, spunky, elegant classic. I actually don’t even think that she needs a double-barreled name.

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is fantastic! [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] would be darling as sisters!

I adore [name]Mary[/name]; she isn’t “new and fresh,” BUT in a sea of Isabels, Avas and Addisons, she sounds delightful!

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is gorgeous.

[name]Mary[/name] is boring, even with a fresh middle. [name]May[/name] I suggest [name]Amoret[/name]?

I’ve never thought of [name]Mary[/name] as being boring! I agree with you about [name]Eliza[/name] being less predictable than [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is lovely.

[name]Nora[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] would be a great set!

It’s a beautiful classic and she’ll never have to explain how it’s pronounced, wherever she goes in the world. I like the idea of a modern/unusual middle name, but I grew up Catholic and knew so many [name]Mary[/name] Elizabeths. But [name]Eliza[/name] is cool and different, and since it has family meaning, I’d say use it!

I haven’t ever cared for [name]Mary[/name] because it just seems simple and plain to me, but I will say downton abbey has given it a little more of a flare in my eyes. I wouldn’t personally want my name to be [name]Mary[/name]. I like [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Rosemarie[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], or [name]Maribel[/name] better.

While I have never been a [name]Mary[/name] fan, I think [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is a great combination and that it pairs well with your daughter’s name. I know quite a few [name]Marys[/name] all well under 50, so I would not call it fresh and new but it isn’t overused either.

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mary[/name]. So soft and feminine and totally unexpected. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] is BEAUTIFUL!!!

It’s a lovely, classic name. My cousin (teenager) is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. I know a 4yo [name]Mary[/name]. As aj_bear noted, it is unexpected in a sea of Jaydens, … Go for it!

I almost fainted when I saw [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]! Lol. Those are two of my fav names. [name]Mary[/name] is stunning, sweet, historical, classic, refreshing. Nothing old or outdated about it.
