**edit, went back and looked and it was [name]Deirdre[/name] who kindly suggested Maryweld… may I ask where you found the name, or anything you might know about it? If it means [name]Mary[/name] of the woods, it is truly a lovely match for my little [name]Lark[/name]'s mn
Someone here suggested Maryweld to me, as meaning “[name]Mary[/name] of the woods”
I adore this meaning, as it combines my love of nature names with my need for a form of [name]Mary[/name] name.
However, I can’t find history on the name anywhere… do any of you know a reliable source that lists it as meaning “[name]Mary[/name] of the woods” ?
Because, with all my lovely choices, I would hate to choose one for a meaning it doesn’t really have
I don’t know if this baby name website is reliable, but it does list Maryweld as an Old English name meaning [name]Mary[/name] of the woods.
I also came across the website of [name]Saint[/name] [name]Mary[/name]-of-the-Woods College, founded in 1840, is the nation’s oldest Catholic women’s college, in [name]Indiana[/name]. And The Sisters of Providence of [name]Saint[/name] [name]Mary[/name]-of-the-Woods, [name]Indiana[/name].
Kind of an intriguing name – or possible – name, Maryweld. But I agree with you that you need further information before choosing it for your daughter.
Thanks for the research!
That’s the only site I can find it listed as a “real” name… I have no idea if that’s a reliable site… anyone know??
Thanks for the reference to [name]Saint[/name]-[name]Mary[/name]-of-the-Woods College, I was raised in a devout Catholic family (hence the varients of [name]Mary[/name] for all the women) and the reference would please my mother greatly Also, the oldest women’s college is a positive reference… trouble being, I can’t find anything tying [name]Mary[/name]-of-the-Woods to Maryweld… hm…
I think I’m really leaning towards [name]Lark[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] Maryweld, but ONLY if it is a valid reference… anyone out there who knows more- HELP!
