I have fallen in love w/ the combo [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] but since starting all this name searching, I’ve learned this is the exact name of [name]Heath[/name] Ledger/[name]Michelle[/name] [name]Williams[/name] daughter. Is this usable?? Or is this too obviously the same as their daughter. I guess I mean would people automatically make that connection? I did know they had a daughter [name]Matilda[/name] but I never knew mn was [name]Rose[/name]…but I don’t want people to think I’ve copied! The only other combo I really like is [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Maude[/name]…but I just love [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] the best. I also love [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Maude[/name] but since our first daughter only has one MN, I thought I better do the same for this one.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is a clothing company that is pretty well known among mommies. I don’t think that as many people would recognize the name of [name]Heath[/name] Ledger’s daughter. I like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. It is usable and lovely.
The first thing I thought was “oh, I think that’s what [name]Heath[/name] Ledger and [name]Michelle[/name] [name]Williams[/name] daughter is called!” But that might be because I’m a bit of a geek. I definitely don’t think it’s unusable. It’s a sweet name. [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is also cute.
I never heard of [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] clothing…yeesh! aha Who knew [name]Matilda[/name] was so popular. Thanks ladies. I do like both…[name]Jane[/name] acts a family name since it’s my great great grandmother who plays a pretty significant role in my family history. But [name]Rose[/name] just sounds so much prettier to me! [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Maude[/name] is also a great grandmother.
I knew they had a daughter named [name]Matilda[/name], had no idea her middle name was [name]Rose[/name]. I think it’s still usable.
I knew it was their daughter’s name. But it’s not an unusual combo, or unusual names, I’m sure there are lots of little [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name]'s, and I doubt anyone will think of it, and if they do it’s not the end of the world, is it? [name]Michelle[/name] [name]Williams[/name] in one of my favourite actresses, and she seems really lovely, and [name]Heath[/name] Ledger was fantastic too.
My husband’s niece is a [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name], but I honestly think we’re the only ones who have noticed that it’s [name]Heath[/name] Ledger’s daughter. If anyone else has - meh, who cares! [name]Rose[/name] is common enough as a middle name that no one will bat an eye. Hardly the same as naming your kid [name]Blue[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
I say use it if you love it!
I"m with @tk.
My great-grandma’s name was [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name]! My daughter is named after her, but she is [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a traditional name combo, I’ve heard it a few times in different age groups. As for your other mn choices, [name]Maude[/name] is a variation of [name]Matilda[/name], so it would be redundant. The rest are cute though!
I love, love, love [name]Matilda[/name]! However, I don’t like [name]Rose[/name]. Yes, the combo sounds beautiful, but many a girl have the middle name [name]Grace[/name], [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Marie[/name] (Please, please don’t do [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marie[/name]).

I thought I had read somewhere recently that [name]Maude[/name] may have been a variant of [name]Matilda[/name], glad you pointed that out again Roselang…thanks!! I love love love [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Rose[/name]…it just flows so well and probably why it has been so commonly used. [name]Jane[/name] is ok…but [name]Rose[/name] is just so feminine and softens the sound of [name]Matilda[/name]. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] too but I think it’s too many L sounds b/c our last name also has an L sound. Plus I love the one syllable name for a longer first name. [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Grace[/name] was another idea. I agree w/ Aurra that [name]Grace[/name]/[name]Rose[/name]/[name]Marie[/name] are all very common but I find [name]Matilda[/name] is unique enough to support a common MN. I’ve never ever heard anyone use the name [name]Matilda[/name] where I live.
