I prefer [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. There’s something about its softness and rhythm that draws me in, and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is such a gorgeous nickname.

I love them both, but [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is such a gorgeous nickname choice so I voted [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]!

These are two favourites of mine but I think I prefer [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as a first name and the nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f]!

I love both, but probably prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] a little more than [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. However, as far as nicknames go, I’ve never personally been a [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] fan, but I love [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]!

Tricky one, because I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] but dislike [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], and I’m not wild about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] but adore [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

I went for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] in the end, though. It’s such a feisty, funky-clunky, slightly mischievous name and I grew up loving the [name_m]Roald[/name_m] Dahl character (see avatar!) so it’s full of nostalgia for me. I’d nickname her [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_u]Mal[/name_u] or [name_u]Max[/name_u] though, personally.

I prefer Matilda as a full name, but not such a fan of Tilly (Tilda or Max I love, though). I voted for Penelope, because I adore the nickname Nell.

I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] (or even more [name_f]Nell[/name_f]).

I prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] to [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but [name_f]Nell[/name_f] to [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. For [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], I like [name_f]Tilda[/name_f].

Definitely [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! Such an awesome name. Not a big fan of [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] though.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] reminds me too much of the old movie and not in a good way. I love everything about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and the various nn for it.

I second this. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] seems really dated, British, and strongly connected to one character [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Thanks everyone, such a close race! I hadn’t considered [name_u]Max[/name_u] for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] before, but it’s a nn we’ve also talked about (we like the alliteration with our ln Mac_immie.

I definitely prefer [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], with either the nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] or [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] as the child grows, depending on her personality.
I don’t mind [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but dislike [name_u]Nelly[/name_u] as a nickname. [name_u]Penny[/name_u] isn’t too bad.

I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] because I think I think it is very sophisticated but [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is not bad at all

I prefer [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], although I much prefer [name_f]Nell[/name_f] to [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].

I honestly can’t vote for a favorite, I really like both names equally and the same goes for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

I always thought these would make a great sibset.

I think looking at a lot of the other first names you love, I’d possibly lean toward [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
