Matt Damon's new baby Stella

So if you’ve seen any of my other posts you will know that [name]Stella[/name] is my number one favorite girl name. I have a long list but I keep coming back to [name]Stella[/name]. It has everything I want in it, not to common, but not unknown, pretty, sounds nice, looks nice, goes with my last name. Well, I just read that [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name] named his daughter [name]Stella[/name], and I’m wondering if you Berries think that this is going to set off a trend of baby Stellas… Part of me wants to use it no matter what, but the other part doesn’t want to be caught in some sort of celebrity baby name hype.

thoughts?

I didn’t even know that [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name]'s daughter was named [name]Stella[/name]. I did know that [name]Tori[/name] Spelling’s daughter was named [name]Stella[/name], and now that I think of it [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Pompeo[/name], who plays the main character from [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy, has a daughter named [name]Stella[/name] as well. I don’t think that [name]Stella[/name] could ever be a celebrity baby name in the vein of [name]Harlow[/name] or [name]Shiloh[/name] or [name]Suri[/name] because [name]Stella[/name] was already so well-established and familiar before any celebrity used it. [name]Stella[/name] already is rather trendy though - it’s in the top 100.

I don’t think it’ll be too big of an issue. [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name]'s daughter was born in 2010, so if that hasn’t affected the statistics yet, I doubt it really will. Besides, it’s already listed at number 85 on the SSA list–even if his daughter does affect the ratings, I doubt it’ll be by much. It’s already relatively popular and [name]Stella[/name] is definitely not everyone’s taste. I don’t really see it getting much more popular than it already is.

Good luck!

I dont think so. Its different then a [name]Beyonce[/name] baby thats on the cover of every magazine. I actually didnt even know he had a baby! lol. Many celebrities have used [name]Stella[/name] recently [name]Tori[/name] Spelling, [name]Molly[/name] [name]Shannon[/name], and the popularity of the designer [name]Stella[/name] Mcartney. I dont think [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name]'s [name]Stella[/name] will give it a bigger boost then it already has. I do see it climbing in the next few years but, that was going to happen anyway. Its a beautiful name and one of my favorites

I knew it was in the top 100, but its pretty far down there on the list. Personally I wouldn’t consider it trendy. [name]IMO[/name] trendy is something like [name]Brooklyn[/name].

2010! LOL, I don’t know how I came across it and thought she was just born. OK, I’m not too worried then. If it’s been two years already I doubt it is going to have that much influence.

Oh, I like [name]Stella[/name] a lot, and I don’t consider trendy to be an inherently negative quality. I just mean that it’s currently experiencing something of a surge in popularity, which it is. I think that sometimes people use trendy to imply that a name is lacking in substance, which I wasn’t trying to do there. I like [name]Stella[/name] a lot and would be happy to see a little one.

OK, I see what you mean. There is some ambiguity with how people use it.
