I love the name [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and it has triple significance for me (it’s the name of a very dear friend who died last year, a kid I used to teach who made a big impact on me, and a fictional character who was instrumental in me figuring out some of my identity/beliefs). But the question is… do you think it’s too “boring” compared to my usual style?
I think it works with some of the names on your signature! I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of a [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and a [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] or [name_m]Travis[/name_m] as siblings.
If you’re still unsure you could always use a more “interesting” variation like [name_m]Mathias[/name_m] or [name_m]Matteo[/name_m].
I agree with @anon68906791 and @tallemaja. I think it will go well with many of the names on your list. Changing up to a variation of the name could work as well.
Above all, the name [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is significant to you and that’s what should matter more than anything else.
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is great! A strong classic that sounds good when paired with almost anything! There’s always other variations of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] to consider as well, like: [name_m]Mattias[/name_m], [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], [name_m]Mathis[/name_m] and [name_m]Mattis[/name_m]!
I love [name_m]Mathew[/name_m]! Beautiful name and it seems very meaningful to you which is important!
I’ve always found [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] to have a beautiful sound. It’s less used now than it was in the past, so I’d say it’s very usable.
Matthew is one of those classic names that everyone’s heard. Everyone knows a [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], or at least a [name_m]Matt[/name_m]. But that doesn’t make it a bad name. There’s a reason that a lot of the old favorites are so popular, you know, aside from the Biblical connection. It’s a good, normal, recognizable name. That does mean it isn’t very unique, though, and that’s something you’ll have to grapple with on your own. If you really want to add a bit of pizzazz, you could always check out a variation like Matthieu or [name_m]Matthias[/name_m].
It is a little dull but would make a great middle
Matthew is a very nice classic. Maybe pair it with a more unusual mn, or use it as the middle with a first that you love.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I think it’s beautiful. It has a soft gentle sound, but it still clearly masculine. A great classic!
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
Thanks, everyone. I should probably have mentioned that I’m not really a fan of most variations like [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] or [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]. I’m now wondering if there might be a more uncommon nickname that might add some interest (as in, besides [name_m]Matt[/name_m]). I like [name_u]Matty[/name_u] but am not sure it ages well.
I really like [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. I agree with this:
Maybe [name_u]Theo[/name_u] could work as a stretch nn? [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] share the same meaning and a lot of the sound is there. The only thing that seems tricky about it is that I think people would assume a [name_u]Theo[/name_u] was a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (or just [name_u]Theo[/name_u]). But if you don’t mind that I kind of think it could work!
Hello!
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is a gorgeous name with great nns! [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Matt[/name_m] and [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] are my fave nns! I agree that if you are worried about [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] being to dull just and a different unique mn!
In a world of [name_u]Liam[/name_u]’s, [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]’s and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]’s, I think [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is actually an uncommon classic.
