Hubs and I really love the name Emre for our baby boy due in [name_f]September[/name_f]. However MNs are bit more of a struggle.
After a lot of thinking we both agree upon Emre [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] as a potential name (we would add another MN as well).
But I’m also wondering people’s thoughts on Emre [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] Kaan.
I am currently loving the boys name [name_m]Mateo[/name_m] but will never use it as it is Spanish and we want a name that will reflect baby’s mixed Turkish/English heritage. Apparently [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is an old English name & I like the fact that is rare but still strong sounding. What do others think of the combo? Honest opinions welcome
I think Emre [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is very handsome. I feel neutral about [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], it doesn’t excite me. I also like Emre [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about Emre [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]?
Another Turkish in NB? I adore Emre! Emre [name_m]Mathias[/name_m] is better [name_f]IMO[/name_f] and Emre [name_m]Mathias[/name_m] Kaan is a good combination too!
@lovemysweeties Thank you for the feedback. I still love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] but your right… It’s just not that exciting. I figure if we are gonna pick a unique name then we might as well own it and go all the way with something I am exited about. [name_m]Will[/name_m] just need to get the hubs on onboard now, keep your fingers crossed for me!
@Elifsu TURKIYE! It’s my hubs that’s Turkish not me but we are going for a Turkish name as that’s what our 1st DS has.
I loooove so many of the names in your signature. We almost named our first [name_f]Arda[/name_f] but it’s was our friends sons name so we decided against in the end. I also like Evren and Levent but they are also taken by friends.
I just double checked the pronunciation of [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] and there seems to be differing opinions I think people in the U.S. say ‘[name_m]Math[/name_m]-eye-us’ whereas in the UK I think it would be more instinctive to say ‘[name_m]Math[/name_m]-ee-us’. I also came across ‘Mah-tee-us’ which may be better for us given that ‘TH’ sounds can be hard for people in Turkey to pronounce (esp. if they are not familiar with English).
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] [name_u]Josie[/name_u], I stumbled across your post today as my husband and I are also considering either Emre, Evren or Levent for our baby boy due later this year it seems we have very similar taste, even when I look at your girls list!
Have you decided which combination you will be going for?
I would greatly appreciate some suggestions for good middle names to go with either of the three on our list - preferably turkish that is easy to say/pronounce/sounds nice in english or vice versa (preferably 1 or 3 syllables).
I like Can/[name_u]Jan[/name_u] but husband has a few cousins with that name so we won’t be using that one
