Hello all! No babies quite yet, but my boyfriend is dead set on [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] for our future son and I really don’t like it…names are really important to me and [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] goes against all of my name leanings 
However, the name is really important to him and I could potentially be down with [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] if I could think of a cool nickname other than [name_m]Matt[/name_m] or [name_m]Ty[/name_m]. Any creative ideas out there??? Thank you!!!

[name_m]Matthews[/name_m]- [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] THIS. Could call him [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]

I kind of have a similar situation; SO is dead set on a name that I wouldn’t have chosen if I was the only one deciding. However, we spoke about this years ago, and with time I’ve gotten quite attached to the name. Now it feels like I’m choosing it too (hehe!). Admittedly, it’s mostly because I know it’s a family name that means a lot to him and I’ve grown to love it, too. If it was a name he wanted just because he liked it, I wouldn’t have gone with it, though. If you really dislike [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], maybe you guys can compromise? Maybe use a similar name, or put it in the middle place spot, or put it first and call your kid by his middle name?
I think [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is a very handsome name. It’s a quite common name here and I’ve heard quite a few nicknames for it. My favourites are [name_m]Mats[/name_m] and Mattis. Other options could be: [name_u]Massey[/name_u], Thias, Tyce.
