Hi there!
Due in Jan and the boys names are a fun ongoing project for us maybe you can help us out. Narrowed it down to these but def open to suggestions!
Max Theodore- husbands #1 and for me I sometimes find the -AX ending really harsh and not âhard to sayâ but doesnât roll off the tongue for me sometimes idk
Jack Thomas- husband doesnât like how close this is to Jackson and that Jack/ Jackson is so popular right now. I love thatâs itâs easy to say lol. My husband thinks we could use Max and Jack but I think they are far too similar.
*open to another middle hereâŚ. I was into JT as a potential nickname but it doesnât have to be.
Andrew Dwaine- both family names. I love Drew for a NN here⌠could be ok with Andy but I like that drew of a little different. It was hard to pair Dwaine so Andrew was one of the few we found.
Gavin Dwaine- newer style name which is cool but I usually like names that have been around since 1900s or so lol. It does make me smile but I would use Gav as a Nn but idk if I even like it that much⌠could just use Gavin all the time, I get Iâm being a tad lazy lol.
GIRLS- because we will be surprised! To give a sense of our vibeâŚwe have settled lately on:
Lucy Caroline (first girl) Nora Estelle (if a second)
With your both names my favourites are [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] - although Iâd use [name_m]Vin[/name_m] / [name_m]Vinnie[/name_m] as a NN instead of Gav personally.
Iâd agree with your husband about [name_m]Jack[/name_m] / [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] / Jaxonâs popularity & it would put me off the name. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is nice but I donât find it as charming as [name_m]Max[/name_m] & [name_m]Gavin[/name_m].
Other names that come to mind - for FN or MNâs - if it helps
[name_m]Ryan[/name_m]
[name_m]Kyle[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Leland[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Tristan[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Bryce[/name_m]
[name_m]Kieran[/name_m]
[name_m]Xander[/name_m]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_m]Damian[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jace[/name_m]
[name_m]Coby[/name_m]
[name_m]Mitchell[/name_m]
[name_m]Sullivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_m]Elliott[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] goes really nicely with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
If I could mix and match, Iâd go with [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]!
Thank you! And yes the middles for the girls are family names and both the first make us smile so much.
[name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a nice sounding name too!
And we had not thought about [name_m]Jack[/name_m] Dwaine⌠I think it sounds nice. I wouldnât want JD as a nickname but meanwhile I want JT lolâŚ. Donât ask
Thanks for these suggestions! Both solid additions.
However, thatâs a close family members first name and it could be a nice nod name but I think it may be too much. The person is young and still living⌠maybe be too much of the same name
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] with [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] as a runner-up. I really like [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] as well, and I like the previous suggestion of [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] to get a family name in there.
The boy names are friendly, approachable, and energetic.
Iâd suggest [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] or [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (still JT!).
I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] together! I think all of these names definitely have a friendly, down-to-earth feel. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of your boyâs list is definitely [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] â I like the easy sound and he blends so nicely with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] (however, I donât think [name_m]Max[/name_m] & [name_m]Jack[/name_m] could be siblings, because they are very similar).
A compromise between [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_m]Max[/name_m] could be [name_m]Mack[/name_m]? A few other combo ideas, using the same middlesâŚ
[name_m]Finn[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] âJamieâ
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Owen[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and Andrew/Drew but I would go straight to [name_m]Drew[/name_m] avoiding [name_m]Andy[/name_m] as a nn. [name_m]Drew[/name_m] would still be an honour name for [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. [name_m]Drew[/name_m] [name_m]Gavin[/name_m], [name_m]Drew[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], or [name_m]Drew[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name from your list is [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], however, based on your perspective of the name, I donât think it is the perfect name for your son.
That makes me lean into [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], or perhaps, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Itâs a timeless, elegant choice. But again, if your husband doesnât love it, it may not work for you.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] may be the perfect first name for your child. Itâs the only name on your list that doesnât have a negative aspect that bothers you. It works with the family middle name. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] would be amazing as well.
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] is a great name! Underused and interesting. But it doesnât make you smile⌠And you donât care for its nicknames. So, I would eliminate it as well.
[name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is my favourite - snappy, cool and charming, classic but fun!
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favourite is [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] - versatile, friendly and timeless in feel - but yes, very popular
I will also add in that âDrewâ is actually my favourite out of all the options, but only as a stand alone, not from [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (sorry!)
I already gave my thoughts on [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m], so Iâll just do the others here:
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] â it feels strong and sturdy and kind of âmanly-vibesâ but I like it for the nickname [name_m]Drew[/name_m] and both [name_m]Anders[/name_m] and [name_m]Andy[/name_m] are good too
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] â Iâll start by saying that I think [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] has very different associations in the US - and people here seem to enjoy it - so apologies for the negativity but it gives me âmiddle-aged-builder-who-wolf-whistles-random-girls-on-the-streetâ and calls women âbirdsâ. This is based on the Gavins I have encountered in the UK, but Iâm sure there are plenty of lovely ones too. Maybe with a different middle I could appreciate it more? But I understand [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is an honour too so
Based on yoursâŚ
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] âJedâ âJDâ
[name_m]Joel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] / [name_m]Joel[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Dean[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] (a nod to Dwaine)
[name_m]Jude[/name_m] [name_m]Owain[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (could be [name_m]Lu[/name_m] or Luka)
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] âCalâ
[name_m]Evan[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
If [name_m]Max[/name_m] is too harsh sounding, why not [name_m]Maxim[/name_m]? [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is great and fits in with your girlsâ names.
Again, with [name_m]Jack[/name_m], why not go with [name_m]John[/name_m]? [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a nn for [name_m]John[/name_m], but [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a classic no one hears anymore and fits in with your vibe.
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] is an old Scots name and [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] works for me. Thereâs also [name_m]Gawain[/name_m], [name_m]Gareth[/name_m], and [name_m]Geraint[/name_m] as variations.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Dwain[/name_m] also works and [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] could be a sweet play on the initials too.
I also prefer just [name_m]Drew[/name_m] over Andrew⌠Iâll play around with that as a stand alone.
And [name_m]Gavin[/name_m]- I really appreciate this feedback because itâs so interesting how names land or how they are used / viewed from different parts of the world! We even have this in the US across different regions so it very interesting. Itâs not as popular in the US and the ones Iâve met are super calm and respectful lol. Appreciate it all the same! Thank you
And [name_m]Max[/name_m] is starting to grow on me this week. I am probably
Over thinking how âdifficultâ it is to sayâŚ. Itâs literally one syllable
I like [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] a lot. Would you be willing to try [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? Maybe adding the -well would make the -ax ending in just [name_m]Max[/name_m] feel less intense to you.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is also a really cool name! It is definitely popular right now although Iâd argue [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] is more popular than [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but youâll probably hear both used a lot. JT is a cute nickname too!
I think I commented on another post of yours, but I love [name_m]Drew[/name_m] or [name_m]Andy[/name_m] for nicknames for [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] but donât love just [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] on itâs own.
To me, [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] doesnât fit as well with the rest of your list here. Like you said, you have some more classic names on here and [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] doesnât really fit with that vibe.
So going in order of favorite to least favorite itâd be [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m], and [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]. So [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] would be my top 2.
All your names are lovely! I would say [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is my favorite, but all your combos are lovely as well. I do find [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] more interesting than [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but if you want alternates to [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], I think these might be nice too:
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] is probably my second favorite, then [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], then [name_m]Max[/name_m], but I really do love all four namesâI donât think you can go wrong!
If you like both [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m], you might use [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. [name_m]Mac[/name_m] means âson of,â so you could use Dadâs name (or a grandpaâs name) as a middle. [name_m]Or[/name_m] you could lengthen the name so it has a different meaning and then call him [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. (Maxwell, MacKenzie, [name_m]Maguire[/name_m], etc.)
I do think [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] would get confusing as brother names.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a timeless choice. Canât go wrong there.
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] almost sounds like the same name. [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] comes from [name_m]Gawain[/name_m], like the knight. And [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] is spelled very similarly to [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]. I realize this may be a personal issue.
[name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] has very strong sounds. It would be nice to find something with very different, maybe softer sounds to balance it out.
[name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Dad can use Bex)
[name_m]Paxton[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Can mean [name_f]Peace[/name_f] Town. Although, this is harder to say than [name_m]Max[/name_m]. Lots of consonants.)
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m], called [name_m]Mack[/name_m] / [name_m]Mac[/name_m] / [name_m]Max[/name_m]
