What are some darling middle names for a girl named [name_u]Maxie[/name_u]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband really wants a nature or animal name, while I feel like a name as spunky as [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] needs a middle name that’s not too “out-there.”
[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name style: [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_u]Gray[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], etc.
We have a lonnng (hyphenated) last name, so that’s something to factor into the equation.
I would probably avoid word names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it will end up making the name sound too descriptive. [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] sounds like a really long winter.
Something short will make [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] sound really spunky. I actually really dig [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. Sounds like a name from a novel.
I don’t know, my preference is that your middle name should function as a “plan B” for your child if they don’t like their first name. It’s still legally their name and they can make the switch if they want to. I know plenty of people who have done this and dropped their first name altogether.
So, in my opinion anyway, I feel like the middle name should be a name that could stand alone. And I can’t picture a woman named [name_u]Winter[/name_u] or [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. But something like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is nice. Maybe something like [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] / [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (that ends on the same note.)
I really like [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Maria[/name_f]… I know they are kind of matchy but the sounds are different! Other suggestions:
I agree that [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] M___ sounds great! ([name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], etc.) but unfortunately our last name also starts with M, and I think that MMM is too much!
I like the suggestions of [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Francine[/name_f], and we are still pondering about [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. We will see what my husband thinks!
I like [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]! I also like [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]… Similar but a little easier to say and flows well
I love the nature theme idea and I also like the [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] combination although [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] is a name i’m not brave enough to use. If you have a long last name it might be a good idea to have a one syllable middle to help balance the name…[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is already quite long syllable-wise but sounds good. Here are some other cool nature themed or just nice shortish middle names I think would suit a [name_u]Maxie[/name_u];
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Eira[/name_f] pn. Ee-rah or Eye-rah and means snow in Welsh
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Topaz[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Sky[/name_u]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Rhea[/name_f]
I tried to stick to the nature theme, using names from an [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] list, a nature one and some names from precious stones. Best of luck!
I would avoid a middle name that is also very obviously a word — [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] does sound a little too descriptive — and something perhaps a little more classic, feminine, & formal to balance quirky, down-to-earth [name_u]Maxie[/name_u].
