Maxie Zooey

What do you think?

(First name is definitely [name_u]Maxie[/name_u], so please don’t be harsh about that)

It seems very cutesy to me, and I don’t like the matchy endings. I would pair [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] with something that doesn’t also end in an -EE sound.

It’s kind of pretty (and I actually quite like [name_u]Maxie[/name_u], very cute, though not usually my style) but the double ‘ee’ endings sounds a bit sing-songy if that makes sense? Also, I always find myself accidentally saying [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] Zoo-ee even though I’m pretty sure it’s pronounced like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] right? It definitely doesn’t sound that strange and if [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] is a name you really love or honours someone then 100% go with [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Zooey[/name_u]. If it doesn’t have loads of meaning then maybe there might be a better combination out there

I noticed you have [name_u]Winter[/name_u] as a middle in your signature, what about [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]? Though maybe that’s a bit unisex, I think [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] works better with a much more feminine middle (just my personal preference as unisex names generally aren’t my thing)
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]?
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]? (maybe too much M?)

I like both name separately, just not paired together.

I just want to warn you–in high school my family had a dog named [name_u]Max[/name_u], and people made fun of him by calling him “[name_u]Maxi[/name_u]-Pad”. If people made fun of my DOG for the name, I can only imagine what preteen girls would do to a female with the name [name_u]Maxie[/name_u]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] saying… :frowning:

I think there are other names that would flow better with [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] tbh, I would use a name that doesn’t also end with the ‘ee’ sound.

[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]

Another point against [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] is that it’s very similar to ‘[name_u]Maxi[/name_u] Zoo’ which is a European pet store franchise. This wouldn’t be a problem if you don’t live in Europe but I would keep it in mind.

The flow doesn’t work for me - not just that they both end in -ee, but that they’re both two syllable names with the accent on the first syllable and ending in -ee. If it’s a middle name you’re not expecting to use much, and you’re choosing it for personal reasons ([name_m]Salinger[/name_m] reference maybe?), then that’s OK - [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] Z. Lastname is cool.

[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Francine[/name_f] - If [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] is a [name_f]Franny[/name_f] and [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] reference - or even if it isn’t - I like the retro [name_f]Francine[/name_f] with [name_u]Maxie[/name_u]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] from your sig, unless you’re saving it for later. [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] is cute too.
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Kaye[/name_u]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - keeps the Z, swaps it for another 20th c. literary reference
[name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Zora[/name_f] - see above

Vintage [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] sounds great with 1910s - 1940s era middle names, I think!

Sorry, but I don’t think they sound very good together.

Maxie needs a longer, feminine name.
I think its a difficult name to pair with other names.

Maxie Isabella
Maxie Solene
Maxie Elisabet
Maxie Evangeline
Maxie Alexandra

I’d go with something else, something similar like
Mattie
Marnie
Marcie
Marcia
Mar
Mali
Marie
Maki
Mila
Millie
Miley
Maia
Roxie?

There is that Maxi- Pad thing.
But I don’t think you want to change it, do you?

I know a girl named [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] nn [name_u]Maxi[/name_u] and until about middle school it was fine and then the “maxi-pad” thing started and she ended up trying really hard to go back to [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]. So if you’re set on using [name_u]Maxie[/name_u], at least have a more formal, less cutesy middle name or first name that she can fall back on.

Yeah, [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] would not be my first choice for a middle, and honestly I prefer full names to nicknames. Maybe just [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]?

And now I can’t get that [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]-pad reference out of my head…that would be terrible.

I love love love maxie. I had friends at school, melony, minnette, maxie and morisa. All names can be teases if you like it keep it, if you worry call her a longer version so there are other nicknames but I wouldn’t!
Middle name wise I’d onky choose zooey if it has meaning to you as it possibly is a bit odd together, I dont know what to suggest just wanted to show support for maxie

I agree with this!

I like the suggestion of [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].

I don’t think of pads when I hear [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]. I either think of skirts/dresses, or the funny racecar from Roary the Racing Car. [name_u]Maxi[/name_u] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is beautiful!

I would go non-E ending. It’s too matchy.

I prefer the spelling [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] for the MN, unless it’s an honor or family name.

Maxie is NMS. I prefer it as a nn to [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] (which only have one added letter) or something else. Kids grow out of these names quickly.

Maxie is cute! It makes me think of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_f]Misty[/name_f], [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]… very nicknamey and vintage.

I think everyone needs to calm down about the maxi-pad association. Pads shouldn’t even be a bad association, they keep women sanitary and increase confidence during our cycles.
…and there’s other things referred to as [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]; like maxi dresses, maxi supermarkets, maxi products, etc. Boys can be named [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] and no one bats an eye if they get nn’d [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]?
It’s unfortunate that others have been bullied for their names, but a bully could pick apart any name if they really wanted to.

I do like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] as a full name to [name_u]Maxie[/name_u], which flows better with [name_u]Zooey[/name_u].

Alternatively, what about [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Zelene[/name_f] or [name_u]Maxie[/name_u] [name_f]Zara[/name_f]?
