Maxine

After my (very long ) last post, Maxine is really climbing higher on my girls list. I still feel like it’s tied with three or four (or five :joy:) other names that I also love as potential first names, but sometimes finding the middle name to go with it skews my opinion one way or the other.

Last name is S-t-o-r-e-r if that changes your decision on middle combos.

So, trying to hone in on what middle to pair with Maxine:

  • Maxine Bea
  • Maxine Fern
  • Maxine Eloise
  • Maxine Jeanine
  • Maxine Nadine
  • Maxine Noelle
  • Maxine Beatrix
  • Maxine Annemarie
  • Maxine Evangeline
  • Maxine Felicity

Maxine Bea - adore the “she who brings happiness” sentiment of Bea. With the random nicknames our other son has gotten, I could see this turning into Maxi Bea, MayBea Baby, MaBeS. Not official nicknames just the type of random type of things people end up getting called around our house. :joy: Also love Bea/Beateice as a first name and would potentially want to use it if we were to have two girls someday.

Maxine Fern - Fern has some family ties and meaning. Love the Charlottes Webb association/vibe. Same as above, if we had two girls, I might regret not saving Fern for another first name. But that’s a lot of what ifs considering we are two for two on boys so far. :joy:

Maxine Eloise - like the way this sounds and I have a thing for girls names containing an O. It feels a bit like a random filler name for us? I still really like it, though.

Maxine Jeanine - love the meaning “God is gracious.” Could see it possibly turning into Maxi Jean or even Madge/Maj around the house? Repeated -ine endings might be a little too rhymey.

Maxine Nadine - “Hope” meaning is sweet. Repeated -ine endings might be a bit much again. Also the ending of Maxine might smoosh together with the beginning of Nadine.

Maxine Noelle - feels a bit random for us, but also kind of dig it. If we managed to get pregnant at our ideal time (not like you can really control such things that much lol), we would be finding out about it right before Christmas and our fifth wedding anniversary. So maybe Noelle would feeling meaningful under those circumstances?

Maxine Beatrix - think I prefer just Bea with Maxine

Maxine Annemarie - smoosh name if my and my MIL’s middle names because we both dropped our middles and took our maiden names as our legal middle names when we got married. So feels like a subtle nod to both of us. :woman_shrugging:

Maxine Evangeline - just feels sweet with a sweet sentiment and maybe adds some frill to somewhat tomboyish Maxine?

Maxine Felicity - means “happy” and feels happy.

Also open to other middle suggestions to go with it.

Yall gave great feedback on the first name options in my last post, but if anyone feels super strongly about Maxine feel free to give your opinion on it. I feel like it gets generally good reviews on Nameberry, but I’ve seen very mixed responses elsewhere. Some people have said it feels to stale old lady to be ready for a comeback. Other people love it. :woman_shrugging:

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is one that’s grown on me more recently, but I like the kind of clunky-cute and sassy vibes and the way it has a touch of elegance and sweetness without feeling frilly? I also enjoy how it gives versatile nickname options: [name_m]Max[/name_m], [name_m]Maxie[/name_m], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]

On your middle choices:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- sweet and unexpected

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- cosy and cute, but stylish too

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- elegant and balanced

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanine[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- too rhymey for me, also sort of reminds me of clothes [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Maxi[/name_f] Jeans? [name_m]Maj[/name_m] is cute though

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- love [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] but not here, I’m afraid [name_f][/name_f]- it is very rhymey. [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] might[name_f][/name_f] work a little better

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- wintery yet cosy feeling! I think it’s a good choice, especially under those circumstances

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I think I prefer just [name_f]Bea[/name_f] too [name_f][/name_f]- the X is very distinctive so not sure repeating it works in my head?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I really like the sentiment and the flow [name_f][/name_f]- bouncy and bright [name_f][/name_f]- though not sure you seem quite as excited by it

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I like it in theory but a bit rhymey for me

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- bright, stylish and cheerful [name_f][/name_f]- and adds that frilliness like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but without the rhyme (Also nickname Miffy)
