What do you think of the combo [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]? My SO and I have been looking for a middle name starting with B to honor his grandfather, [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. (Jewish tradition is to just use the first initial and not directly name after the relative, of which eliminates [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] as an option)
We finally found something we both can agree on…we think. [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] is a little more out there then our typical style.
Also, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is our top pick for a girl. Are [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] too similar for siblings? [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f]?
This is a great combo. I just saw it in the ‘which would you choose?’ thread and regretted not picking it! It is distinct and handsome with just the right amount of unexpected flair.
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are nice together. [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are a bit close for me, but usable. Is [name_f]Mae[/name_f] set in stone? [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] would all be cute with [name_u]Max[/name_u] too.
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] is handsome together, and I like the unusualness of [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]. It makes for an interesting surprise in the middle. [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] work for siblings because although they share a first letter, the other sounds of the names are very different. [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as nicknames seems ok. They won’t always be called [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] next to each other in any given situation so I think it slides under the radar.
Thanks! We’ve been scrambling for a B name to satisfy my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] (her father was [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]) and hadn’t found one we liked until now. ([name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] was actually the first name we ever agreed on!) I don’t think I could bring myself to use [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] as a first name, but I like it in the middle!
We’ve actually considered using [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as the first name for a baby girl, so we’re pretty set on that one (He actually refers to our future daughter as [name_f]Mae[/name_f]…) If anything, we’d probably swap out [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] for something else.
