Maxwell Drew

[name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] just named her daughter [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name]! say what?
I don’t mind the [name]Drew[/name] (named after he grandmother) but [name]Maxwell[/name] is ALL boy to me. Thoughts??

I hunk its sweet that they used family names, but if they have more kids…I mean, what do you name a boy who has a sister named maxwell [name]Drew[/name]?

I think it is terrible! I agree with [name]Villette[/name] - what do they name the next kid whether it be a boy or girl? Wierd. I suppose that is the point though - the more attention [name]Jessica[/name] brings to herself the more money she is likely to make.

I love that they decided to go with “normal” family names. I however think that the name [name]Maxwell[/name] on a girl will cause ALL SORTS of problems. I knew a girl named [name]Jo[/name] and legal documents and paper work was always horrid because she was always thought to be male. I think the nick name [name]Maxie[/name] is cute, but they could have done [name]Maxie[/name] [name]Drew[/name]? or [name]Maxine[/name] [name]Drew[/name]? And I agree with the above posters, what will they name a boy? They will be forced to go with ultra-masculine, unless they do a everyone has uni-sex names thing.

[name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name] is really a VERY masculine combo. Perhaps it should have been [name]Drew[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name]. Better still, have a girls name as her first name and these two as double middles. I guess the rumours were correct!

Ooops, I just made a post about this in the ‘Talk about Names’ board, I do apologise.

I’m speechless, seriously lost for words. I think it’s awful and possibly one of the worst names I’ve ever heard for a little girl. I think this only encourages non celebrity folk to use boys names on girls and the trend just needs to go away (not that it is that much of an issue in the UK!).

I must admit [name]Drew[/name] on a little girl is a massive GP for me but with [name]Maxwell[/name] it just doesn’t work. If they wanted to honour someone named [name]Maxwell[/name], they could have just gone for [name]Maxine[/name] surely?!

I guess I was wrong because I wasn’t expecting her to use it. I don’t care for it and in theory a girl named maxwell drew might have problems in life due to her name but she’s a celebrity baby. She’ll be fine.

I think it’s an excellent name… for a boy. For a girl, it’s horrendous. P.S., say goodbye to [name]Max[/name] for your sons, all you moms. Between this and the character on 2 Broke Girls, it’s definitely getting girlnapped now.

[name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name] is a nice name… For a boy. I’m surprised she didn’t pick something crazy girly though. At least it’s spelled right?

Well…at least she can afford to change the name later, once hormones subside. People who do this to their kids piss me off. I mean there’s obviously worse habits and behaviors, but seriously, this is the kids NAME. Ugh. Was [name]Maxine[/name] so bad that they stuck the kid with a boy name? I agree with everyone else…I saw [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name] and I thought “Oh, she had a boy! What a great name too…normal, but not too boring.” But it was a girl.

Not a fan. It’s just too masculine and not attractive for a girl.

I love the combo [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name]- for a boy.

[name]Max[/name] charts very highly for boys’ right now, though. Most boys’ names that get “girlnapped” seem to have fallen out of favor with boys’ before being revived for girls. It seems more likely that it’ll end up like [name]Taylor[/name] or [name]Jordan[/name] if it catches on with girls.

Not impressed at all. I’m not against unisex names but [name]Maxwell[/name]? Agggg. Plus I think if she really wanted to use [name]Drew[/name], a family name she should have balanced it with something ultra feminine…Plus the NN [name]Maxie[/name]? [name]Just[/name] makes me think of maxi pads. I’m all for trying something different but…just yuck,.

I think she should have paired [name]Maxwell[/name] or [name]Drew[/name] with a more feminine middle or first depending. I love [name]Max[/name] for a girl but I have the french feminine form of [name]Maximilian[/name] on my list which is Maximilienne. I’m just mad because now people will think I was copying her if I use it.

Sometimes I think that celebrities feel pressure to always be different and this carries over into their baby name choices. While I don’t like the unisex name trend, I can understand names like [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Jordan[/name], [name]Madison[/name], and even [name]Drew[/name] being used on girls, but [name]Maxwell[/name]? In this case, I think [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] went way past different and into the realm of strange. What girl wants to go through life with SUCH a masculine name? Especially with such a feminine and girly mom. [name]IMO[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name] is like naming your girl [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Christopher[/name]. Perhaps the baby will be like her mom, personality wise, then there’ll be an interesting juxtaposition b/t masculine name and feminine personality. Hmm…interesting.

Ugh! Really! I love [name]Maxwell[/name] and [name]Drew[/name] on BOYS. [name]Maxine[/name] would have been so much better.

Awful! [name]Maxwell[/name] is fine on a boy, terrible on a girl. She could have used [name]Maxwell[/name] as a middle name for a girl, or even both [name]Maxwell[/name] and [name]Drew[/name] as mdidle names, with a feminine name up front. Or saved it in case she ever has a boy. Or used [name]Maxine[/name]. I really don’t think she’s going to start a trend for [name]Maxwell[/name] on girls, though.

I too think it’s a wonderful name for a boy…but for a girl…no freakin way. I could see maybe “[name]Maxi[/name]” instead of [name]Maxwell[/name]

I just noticed that the day nameberry had the most users at one time was [name]May[/name] 2nd, 2012… the day after [name]Maxwell[/name] was born. Interesting!
