Hi-
My husband and I will be having a boy and we only like the names Maxwell/Maximilian or Theo/Theodore (but hate Ted and Teddy as nicknames). We also like the names Charles (Charlie) and George, but maybe in our second tier.
We could also do Theodore Maxwell or Maxwell/Maximilian Theodore.
We like only classic names, nothing trendy, and no weird spellings.
If we had a girl down the line we would likely call her Alexandra, Sophia, or maybe Sloane (but the nickname for that suck, as it would be “Slo”.
I like [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for you ! And down the line I can see [name_u]George[/name_u] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] as siblings
Congrats! I love both, but Theodore Maxwell has to be my favorite. I love Theo as a nickname and Alexandra, Sophia, Charles, and George go perfectly with it.
I love [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] but I would say [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] has a better flow. How would you feel about [name_u]Max[/name_u] as a nickname? [name_u]Or[/name_u] possibly [name_m]Wells[/name_m]?
If you’re not a fan of [name_u]Max[/name_u], or [name_m]Wells[/name_m], I would swap it and go with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] “Theo”
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] gets my vote! I could see a [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as brothers or [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] “Sophie”
I feel like like Maxwell/Maximilian has a sharper, more modern (but still super classic) feel that fits better with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], or [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. (I think it would be cute to have a [name_u]Max[/name_u] and an [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] both with an X!)
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] or [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are both so great!
I really like all three names, also [name_u]Max[/name_u] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I think I’d go with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] or [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I also like just [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m].
You’ve not talked about nn [name_u]Max[/name_u], I’m not sure if it’s because you think it’s a given or because you don’t like it as much?
This is so weird - I had a dream last night RE Maximilian vs Maxwell! (As you do when you have twin boys in the way )
My 1 yr old son has a friend named Maximilian who gets “Maxi” and it absolutely suits his cheeky little personality.
Now we are considering Maxwell for one of our boys on the way. I think it’s a classic, confident, universally easy to pronounce and spell name which goes a long way for me!
For me Theo(dore) is gorgeous but due to the softer “Th” it just doesn’t pack the same level of pizazz that I am looking for in a first name. I imagine kids yelling out on the sports field for a pass and perhaps some changing it to the sharper sounding “Ted”?
If it were me I’d choose Maxwell George for no 1, and save Theodore Charles if you are considering any more children in the future! That way you have 2 first names you both love.
At the end of the day they are all great names you’ve chosen, trust your gut and first instincts!
So funny, my first choice in name is [name_u]Max[/name_u], my brother’s name is [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u], and I literally only like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], Maxwell/Maximilian, and then the others [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_u]George[/name_u].
I have tried so hard to go away from some combination of [name_u]Max[/name_u], but it really is the very best boy’s name to me, too! I asked my brother if he would mind and he said he would not, so at least there’s that.
I like [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] I think I like better. When I see [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] I would only use the nn of [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
Yes, I cannot stand [name_m]Ted[/name_m] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] either, has to be [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I think we are going to definitely do Maxwell/Maximilian
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] has grown on me and n. [name_u]Max[/name_u]. I love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] personally but I don’t like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as first
Names.
