I really love this combo. [name]Do[/name] you prefer the [name]Mae[/name] or [name]May[/name] spelling for a first name? Would you spell [name]Anneliese[/name] differently? I’m planning on the [name]German[/name] 4-syllable pronunciation. So, I don’t really want to go with the super American and phonetic, [name]Annalisa[/name]. I realize some people probably wouldn’t pronounce [name]Anneliese[/name] correctly, but it’s in the middle, so it would rarely be used outside of family. Last name has 2 syllables, so the flow would be 1-4-2. Does it need a second middle?
What do you think of [name]May[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name]? Thanks!
I had a wonderful pre-school teacher who was “Miss [name]May[/name]” and my grandmother’s middle name is [name]May[/name]. So, I prefer [name]May[/name]. [name]May[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] is pretty. [name]Annalisa[/name] is one “n” away from Anal.
I think the flow and spelling are fine. And you said it yourself: it’s in the middle so how many people are going to hear it anyway?
[name]Just[/name] so you know, it could lead to some teasing in her pre-teen/teen years if schoolmates hear her whole name. “[name]May[/name] Anal” will be just too tempting for some kids.
Since [name]Anneliese[/name] is written in a straight line (no y, p, g, j, or q), I think the spelling [name]May[/name] is best. [name]Anneliese[/name] is my favourite spelling of the name and would avoid any connection with the word “anal”.
I never would have thought of that negative connotation. Thanks for the input, and like mischa said the [name]Anneliese[/name] spelling would be the best to avoid that connection. I agree that [name]May[/name] looks the best with [name]Anneliese[/name] too, because of the “y”, plus [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Anneliese[/name] both end in an “e”, which doesn’t look as nice to me as, [name]May[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name].
