Hubby and I had an “aha!” moment last weekend when we unexpectedly agreed on a name that we both love for a little boy. I’d like to get some opinions on it before we have to test it out on our mothers
What do you think of the name [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m])?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Westley[/name_m]?
It’s listed as #155, but how many [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]'s do you actually know (esp. under age 5)?
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great name – I’ve always loved [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], and [name_m]Wes[/name_m] is very cute. I personally don’t know any Wesleys, but I think I may prefer [name_m]Westley[/name_m]. It looks better to me. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Westley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], they’re both great. Congrats!
To be honest, I don’t like the name [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], mainly because I don’t like the nickname [name_m]Wes[/name_m]. However, it does sound nice with [name_u]James[/name_u]. I prefer [name_m]Weston[/name_m], then [name_m]Westley[/name_m]. Then you can use the nickname [name_u]West[/name_u], which I really like. But you should go with whatever you like best, especially if you both love it. There was a [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] at the primary school I taught at.
I think [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great name! I don’t know any [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]'s, but I don’t live in the US or UK, so that’s probably not too helpful. [name_m]Westley[/name_m] makes me think of The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f], which is a pretty cool association, but I like the look of [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] a bit more. Is [name_u]James[/name_u] a family name, or just one you like?
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is easier to say than [name_m]Westley[/name_m]. I just don’t like either [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] nor [name_m]Westley[/name_m] since they’re not my taste. However I love [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_u]West[/name_u]. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds like a great first and middle combo if that is what you both love.
@mel_finch, [name_u]James[/name_u] is a family name… my husband’s! It’s tradition in his family for the first son to take his father’s name as a middle name. Thank goodness [name_u]James[/name_u] is a good, classic name that goes with everything!
I love [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. It’s on my short list if this bump is a boy. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is beautiful - you’re lucky, my family names for middle aren’t nearly as nice.
I adore [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is fantastic. I know one [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], but he is in his late 30s. Great name choice and good luck to you!
There was a boy named [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] on my brother’s [name_m]Little[/name_m] League team years ago. My siblings agreed then that we loved the name… still do. [name_m]Westley[/name_m] looks made up to me. I don’t know any little boys with either of these names presently. Good luck!
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great combo! I prefer [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]…and, like others, adore [name_m]Weston[/name_m] nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m] or [name_u]West[/name_u] as well!
I know a few with the name, but all are about my age (nearly 30…yikes!)
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is so handsome. I love it! However, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is very close to Weasley and [name_u]James[/name_u] is [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]'s dad. I wouldn’t consider that a drawback at all - it’s a tiny detail, and they’re good associations - but I thought I should point it out. Anyway, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is stunning, and I don’t know any little Wesleys. Good luck!
I think [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a really nice name! I also prefer [name_m]Weston[/name_m], although I am a little biased because it’s my sons name
Also I know 2 [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]'s under the age of 3. I live in [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], [name_f]Canada[/name_f] though so I don’t know how close/far that is from you!
I love [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. It’s the perfect mix of soft and rugged. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a name that will serve your son well in every stage of his life. Good choice.
(The only [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I know is a teenager.)
I like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], just as it is! I have friends who named their 2-yo son [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m]. They live in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]. They liked the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f] association. He’s the only [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I know. Good luck!
I love [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and I’ve had it on my list since my [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] the Vampire Slayer days
I think [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and [name_m]Westley[/name_m] are going to sound exactly the same 90% of the time. But if you want a more classic, British feel, go with [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. If you want something a little more modern and rugged sounding, go with [name_m]Westley[/name_m]!
And I know zero children named [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. The only [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I’ve ever met is in his mid-20s. He doesn’t even go by [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], though, he just goes by Dub (short for W) so I don’t even count that
I love [name_u]James[/name_u], but I’m not really a fan of [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. [name_m]Westley[/name_m] is slightly better. I just get an image of a pale sickly child when I hear [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]…not sure why.
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is an outstanding name! I’m an elementary teacher and mom, and I’ve yet to meet a young [name_m]Wes[/name_m]. Normally, I would think there isn’t much difference between [name_m]Westley[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. But, in light of a celebrity baby named [name_u]North[/name_u], I would probably prefer [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] to avoid the directional baby name trend.
