May, Mae, or Mei?

So lately I’ve loved the “may” names, but I was wondering which one is most liked around here.

My favorite is [name_f]Mei[/name_f], but I think it might be a little to Japanese for around here. What do you think?

[name_f]May[/name_f] is my personal favourite, [name_f]Mei[/name_f] is a little Japanese sounding for here but i do like [name_f]Mai[/name_f], that is inbetween and doesnt look to foreign! [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Mai[/name_f] xx

My favorite is also [name_f]Mei[/name_f], because it’s also used in Chinese (mei mei means little sister, meili means beautiful, etc). After [name_f]Mei[/name_f], I like [name_f]May[/name_f] because of the nature/month association. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is nice, but there’s nothing that makes it stand out to me.

Well [name_f]Mai[/name_f] is actually pronounced like the word MY, which is why it’s not up there even though it is beautiful!

My favorite spelling is [name_f]Mae[/name_f].

I like [name_f]May[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Mei[/name_f] is going to be misspelled a lot.

I like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]May[/name_f], with a slight preference for [name_f]Mae[/name_f].

Anything but [name_f]Mei[/name_f]

I like [name_f]May[/name_f] for the month and because I prefer y’s as opposed to a lot od the ie replacements.

My favorite spelling is [name_f]Mei[/name_f] (although I also love [name_f]Mai[/name_f]!), followed by [name_f]May[/name_f]. I’ve never really understood the appeal of the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] spelling, even though it’s a family name for me.

(BTW, I adore your girls’ list! Three out of your four names have been on my list in the past, and I really adore them all! And [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. :))

[name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Mei[/name_f] are the ones I like the most.

I prefer the [name_f]May[/name_f] spelling the most, but if you like [name_f]Mei[/name_f] that’s the one you should go with I see no reason not to use it.

My name is [name_f]Mei[/name_f] (so I am biased). I always think it is one of Chinese (or Japanese, if you prefer it that way) names that can be used in any cultures.

[name_f]May[/name_f], definitely

Another vote for [name_f]May[/name_f]! The [name_f]Mae[/name_f] spelling feels too Southern and…hmm, I guess too passive for my taste.

[name_f]Mei[/name_f] is trying to hard, I feel. There are tons of little girls around here with misspelled double-barrelled names (massively popular chav names in the UK) and they tend to be [name_f]Elli[/name_f]-[name_f]Mei[/name_f], [name_f]Laci[/name_f]-[name_f]Mei[/name_f], Yvee-[name_f]Mei[/name_f]. So that sort of ruins it for me.

[name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a nickname, in my eyes, and [name_f]May[/name_f] is a month. So I don’t really have a choice between them. I’m tempted to say [name_f]Mae[/name_f] because it’s the most legitimate spelling as a nn for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], which I love.

I like [name_f]Mae[/name_f] out of these options, but prefer [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I feel like it’s more complete and polished than [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]May[/name_f].

[name_f]Mae[/name_f]! I associate [name_f]May[/name_f] with the month (which isn’t a bad thing but that is why I like [name_f]Mae[/name_f]). [name_f]Mei[/name_f] does look Japanese so I’m not a huge fan but if that doesn’t bother you then go for it!

Why thank you! [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is like my new favorite name haha!

If only I could convince my boyfriend to like them too :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks everyone for your input! I was mostly just curious :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_f]Mei[/name_f] is my favorite because I love [name_f]Asia[/name_f], but I’d only use that spelling if I had [name_f]Asian[/name_f] children. I’d go with the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] spelling.
