Maya or Kaya?

Pronounced mah-ya and kah-ya, which one would you pick and why? [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or [name_u]Kaya[/name_u]?

What if the spellings were changed to [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]? Still pronounced the same.

What if you could use any spelling?

I default to [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] because it’s rarer but either could work!

Note: I would automatically pronounce these as “My-uh” and “Kay-uh” or Kai-ya" if it’s paired with “My-ya”

[name_m]Just[/name_m] letting you know!

[name_f]Maya[/name_f], both ways! I just adore it.

Maya/Maia

[name_f]Maya[/name_f] / [name_f]Maia[/name_f]!

[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] :slight_smile:

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Maya[/name_f] / [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. I pronounce them the same (MAH-yah)
ah = a in car
y = y in yoyo
m =k in margaret
k = m m katherine

[name_u]Kaya[/name_u] = KAH - yah
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] = KAH - yah
the same

[name_u]Kaya[/name_u] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] :slight_smile: I just find it sparky, bright and fun with sass and kick. [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] would be my chosen spelling, though I have met a number of Kaiyas and a [name_f]Kaja[/name_f].

I pronounce them:

May-uh or Mye-uh
Or
Kay-uh or Kye-uh

So I can’t quite hear them in the way you’re pronouncing them.

I like May-uh and Kye-uh and I’d use Kaia for the pronunciation I like for Kaya.

I’d pronounce them My-uh and Kai-uh

I think I very slightly prefer Kaia/Kaya!

[name_f]Maya[/name_f] just feels really plain to me, but nothing wrong with it. [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] has a spark and a kick that I like.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] Maya!!!

I love [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] !

I prefer [name_f]Maya[/name_f]

[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] > [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] > [name_f]Maya[/name_f] > [name_f]Maia[/name_f]

Kaia/Kaya just sounds fresher! [name_f]Maya[/name_f] feels like today’s upper teens/young adults.

[name_f]Maya[/name_f]!

In [name_f]English[/name_f] I say MY-uh and KAI-uh (rhyming)
