We have had the same boys named picked for each pregnancy/adoption and while I have strong feeling this time a little boy may be coming our way I find myself far more interested in girl names…I want to feel just as excited about boy names, but I am not there yet. Help please…here are some names left on the list my dh just edited. We give our kids 3 names.
A combo of these names is our top contender
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Barnabas[/name_m]
I really like but he’s not so sure
[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] nn. [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]
Zephan
[name_u]Jamison[/name_u] (honors family)
Names we thought should stay on the list but we don’t know if they will make the cut
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
[name_u]Christo[/name_u]
[name_m]Eliam[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Garrison[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]
Contemplating the idea of virtue names that fit a boy ideas so far…these would go as mn if used most likely…this idea is a bit of a stretch for us…
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]
Courage
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] (my dh thought this more in tune with the character trait of watching over others than the job)
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] but dh says perhaps we should not have a [name_m]Pete[/name_m], [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] even though I love [name_f]Narnia[/name_f]. He’s likely right I love Zephan but [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] sounds too old/pretentious to me.
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]…a nice name for someone else’s baby
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]…dh doesn’t care for it
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m]…simply cannot stand
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]…no connection the son names on our list honor family
[name_u]Leland[/name_u]…see [name_m]Jerome[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivor[/name_m]…not my style
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m]…I like the sound but the meaning of curly haired seems to lack depth.
Hopewell and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u]…to unisex
I am sensing that boy names are a challenge because I am after something very particular that I can’t put my finger on.
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] and [name_m]Noble[/name_m] have potential.
Thanks for the suggestions. I do like [name_m]Noble[/name_m] but it may take dh a while to warm up to the idea. Dare strikes me as a synonym for foolish, I know this would depend on context but that springs to mind first. I know someone whose children’s mn are danger and havoc and I always thought that was sort of like cursing your kid. We want the virtue names to go in the opposite direction and bring to mind honor, courage, and wisdom. But as I said, this is more my style than dh and we want to be in a place where we both love the babes name!
I do like [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] but it’s my brothers’s mn and we are already planning to use one of his names. I will see what dh thinks of [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. We have never talked about that one. I really do appreciate the help processing!
