Maybe List: C Names

A list of names that I can’t decide on. Names that I sometimes love, and sometimes don’t. Looking for reason to promote them to the real list or discard them entirely. Thanks!

[name]Caius[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Casey[/name]
[name]Casimir[/name]
[name]Cillian[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Clive[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Corbin[/name]
[name]Cormac[/name]
[name]Crispin[/name]

Clearly I like C names!

[name]Clark[/name] stands out for me. Nice name.

Keep:
[name]Caius[/name] - Simple, but still distinguished
[name]Casimir[/name] - I love this, but I realise it’s a little difficult. My sister loves it more, she adores [name]Sufjan[/name] [name]Steven[/name]'s ‘[name]Casimir[/name] Pulaski [name]Day[/name]’.
[name]Clive[/name] - I like the simplicity and familiarity of this one. [name]Clive[/name] [name]Owen[/name] is also one of my favourite actors
[name]Cormac[/name] - Not my favourite, but I love the nn [name]Mac[/name]. Like [name]Clive[/name] and [name]Caius[/name], it’s an easy name.
[name]Crispin[/name] - I adore this, but it’s a little harder to chew than the others. I love how sharp it is, no elongated sounds or vowel emphasis we hear so much of these days.

On the Fence:
[name]Cillian[/name] - I love it in theory, but pronunciation being anything but intuitive coupled with KILL being the emphasis, it’s a difficult name.

Cut:
[name]Corbin[/name] - Feels very 80’s/90’s to me.
[name]Casey[/name] - Very much a nickname, chart-wise it’s been falling steadily since 2000. Unfashionable might be the word?
[name]Clark[/name] - this one is so harsh to me! [name]Clive[/name] is a superb alternative.
[name]Cooper[/name] - Also a ‘recent’ name with a debut in the 80’s. [name]Copper[/name] is cool, [name]Cedar[/name], [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Cobalt[/name]… I also think of hencoops.
[name]Calvin[/name] - There’s just nothing special about it. It seems very bland.

[name]Caius[/name] - I think this would make a cute middle name. Not too keen as a first name.
[name]Calvin[/name] - Kind of cute.
[name]Casey[/name] - Not for me. Also, a bit dated.
[name]Casimir[/name] - Not for me.
[name]Cillian[/name] - [name]Adore[/name] this irish name.
[name]Clark[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it. Very classic and handsome sounding.
[name]Clive[/name] - It’s all right.
[name]Cooper[/name] - It’s all right.
[name]Corbin[/name] - Not my style.
[name]Cormac[/name] - I like it.
[name]Crispin[/name] - Not for me.

[name]Caius[/name]- [name]One[/name] of my favorite among favorites. Historical, ancient, distinguished, yet simple and down to earth.
[name]Calvin[/name]- I would really like it (and I like the NN [name]Cal[/name]), but the meaning of this one is a deal breaker for me. I think [name]Callum[/name] has a similar feel, but a much better meaning.
[name]Casey[/name]- It’s okay, but I’d rather use this as a NN if the initials were KC. Feels incomplete on it’s own.
[name]Casimir[/name]- I really really want to like this name a lot, and I almost do (especially cuz of how historic and meaningful it is), but it reminds me too much of cashmere to be useable for me personally.
[name]Cillian[/name]- Another one I really really want to like a lot, but it sounds too similar to ‘Kill [name]Ian[/name]’ for me to use, since I don’t want to kill [name]Ian[/name]. [name]Cian[/name] is a similar kinda name that I much prefer.
[name]Clark[/name]- It’s a pretty solid name choice. It feels distinguished and well-recognized, but is still relatively uncommon as well.
[name]Clive[/name]- Never really like this name much. Sounds harsh to me.
[name]Cooper[/name]- It’s a decent name, though it feels a little empty to me.
[name]Corbin[/name]- I really like this name a lot. I’ve known a couple and have always appreciated it. Has a nice, friendly vibe to it.
[name]Cormac[/name]- I prefer [name]Corbin[/name] (or perhaps [name]Corwin[/name]?) but I think [name]Cormac[/name] is pretty decent as well.
[name]Crispin[/name]- I really like it. It’s historic, ancient and distinguished. Doesn’t feel quite as welcoming as [name]Caius[/name], but still feels quite down to earth.

Thanks for the feedback so far! It feels like people tend to like feel strongly about [name]Clive[/name] vs [name]Clark[/name] - people fall on one side or the other. Interesting. There’s actually already a lot of surprises in the feedback…!

Best are [name]Corbin[/name], [name]Cooper[/name], and [name]Crispin[/name].

From this list I like [name]Clark[/name] and [name]Cormac[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are lovely!

Keep
[name]Clark[/name] - [name]Love[/name]. Easy-going, not trying too hard, and feels classic in a Mad Men mid-century way.
[name]Corbin[/name] - [name]Love[/name]. I like the meaning and the current -n ending with an unpopular yet legit name.
[name]Cormac[/name] - [name]Love[/name]. [name]Mac[/name] is a strong nickname, and [name]Cormac[/name] is streamlined and simple but strikingly uncommon compared to [name]Connor[/name], [name]Cooper[/name], etc.
[name]Crispin[/name] - “crisp” is a bit odd as a first syllable but I do love it.

On the Fence
[name]Casey[/name] - I definitely like it better on a boy than on a girl but not sure I like it enough to keep it.
[name]Cillian[/name] - Really depend on your area as to how much trouble it will be. I like it a lot though. Would be somewhat affected by how much Gaelic heritage I had or other Gaelic names on my list.

Discard
[name]Clive[/name] - I like [name]Clay[/name], but [name]Clive[/name] feels awkward to me.
[name]Cooper[/name] - A top ten name here. I’m not fond of occupational names at the best of times, and I don’t find this one to have appealing syllables even as just sounds.
[name]Calvin[/name] - Would prefer [name]Callum[/name].
[name]Caius[/name] - I like [name]Cai[/name] as a nickname, but not [name]Caius[/name].

Keep:

[name]Caius[/name]
[name]Casimir[/name]
[name]Cormac[/name]
[name]Crispin[/name]

[name]Caius[/name] - KEEP! This name is so frakkin cool! Funky, ancient, stands out, but isn’t over-the-top.

[name]Calvin[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name]! Keep it! [name]John[/name] [name]Calvin[/name] is a cool namesake. This blends in well with today’s crowd, but isn’t often heard.

[name]Casey[/name] - [name]Nix[/name]. Dated.

[name]Casimir[/name] - [name]Nix[/name]. All right but sounds like cashmere.

[name]Cillian[/name] - It’s okay. Fits in with the Celtric trend. Everybody seems to really love Irish names. [name]Cillian[/name] [name]Murphy[/name] is famous enough that I think people will know how to pronounce this. I’m glad that you’re spelling it this way rather than with a K. I hate that spelling. [name]KILLian[/name] is just not cute to look at. On the fence.

[name]Clark[/name] - I’d nix this. A get nerdy rather than rugged. Doesn’t stand out as much as it should.

[name]Clive[/name] - KEEP. Cool name! [name]Clive[/name] [name]Owen[/name] brought it to the public consciousness, yet it’s not overly popular. That hard “I” sound is rare, and something to cherish, I think.

[name]Cooper[/name] - Meh. [name]Nix[/name]. Blends into a lot of the other profession names. Also, [name]Mini[/name] [name]Cooper[/name].

[name]Corbin[/name] - Not my favourite. If it were me, I’d definitely nix.

[name]Cormac[/name] - KEEP. In trend yet not overheard. Prefer [name]COR[/name]-mick pronunciation, as opposed to [name]COR[/name]-mack.

[name]Crispin[/name] - Reminds me of something I might order at Popeye’s or Kentucky [name]Fried[/name] Chicken, but it does have a stately sound to it. Undecided.

Keep:

[name]Caius[/name]
[name]Casey[/name]
[name]Clive[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Corbin[/name]

[name]Clive[/name] and [name]Cooper[/name] are my favorites. I actually just added [name]Clive[/name] to my own list. It reminds me of [name]Clive[/name] [name]Barker[/name] and seems dark and mysterious.

I really dislike [name]Calvin[/name] and [name]Clark[/name] because they seem really dorky. [name]Crispin[/name] doesn’t sound like a real name to me, and the nn Crispy is terrible!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Calvin[/name]! Definitely my favorite from your list!
