Mays, Maes, Maeys?

We only have 5 more weeks left and we are back at rethinking [name_f]Stella[/name_f]'s middle name. We were going to go with [name_f]May[/name_f], which would represent DH birth month. I still like [name_f]May[/name_f] but my only quarrel with it was that it made the name seem too much like a double barrel first name rather than a first and middle. Not a big deal, just something that was always in the back of my mind every time I said her name. Recently, someone I went to school with, used the middle name Maeys and I fell in love. Awhile ago, when we were mulling over the name [name_f]May[/name_f], I came up with a list of names that used “[name_f]May[/name_f]/Mae” in the name. Mays/Maes/Maeys was at the top of that list but I vetoed all of those names deeming them too much of a stretch. But now, actually seeing it used in real life, makes it seem more usable. I love how just adding an “S” gives it an extra little bit of oomph. Something I was looking for to distinguish it as a middle name. Weird I know, but I love it!

But how should we spell it? Mays/Maes/Maeys or another spelling? (prefer no spellings with “Z” in them)

These 3 are my favorites:
DH likes Mays- I see it as more of a plural of [name_f]May[/name_f] rather than a name
I like [name_m]Maes[/name_m]- I like that it is an actual name (boys)
As for Maeys- Too much of a stretch(?) but something about it I just like.

Hmm, I would go with Mays or [name_m]Maes[/name_m]. Mays to me is more modern and cheerful, but [name_m]Maes[/name_m] seems more classic and has a slight vintage edge to it. So I don’t know how much, or if, that helps, but I would choose the spelling based on the vibe you want the name to have

I like how [name_m]Maes[/name_m] looks. Maeys seems like a misspelling of [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] to me. Mays is fine, but [name_m]Maes[/name_m] is my favourite.

I like Maes

Maeve maybe? [name_u]Maven[/name_u]?

If you’re taking suggestions - I really like Maise. It means “adornment, beauty becomingness, comeliness.”

I second the Maise spelling, it seems more intuitive to me.

I like [name_m]Maes[/name_m] the best, and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_m]Maes[/name_m] sounds great!

Maeys reminds me of [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] and looks like an actual name. It’s also really sweet with [name_f]Stella[/name_f]!
