Could you use McCartney for a first name as a girl? Or is that too strange? I really like McCartney [name]Grace[/name]. Thoughts?
It’s a little odd, but not horrible. People may assume that she goes by her surname though. But there have been many surnames that have turned into first names…so it’s not that out there. Maybe it’ll catch on like [name]Delaney[/name].
I did meet a little girl named [name]McLaughlin[/name] [name]Anne[/name] once - not too far from McCartney!
I like McCartney as a first name. McCartney [name]Grace[/name] is very pretty. I think that surnames are definitely catching on more and more and becoming more widely accepted as first names. On a funny and related note–my husband and I adore the name [name]Lennon[/name] for a little girl. Perhaps our children could have a jam session?
it’s no less usable than [name]Mackenzie[/name], and definitely fresher, but a girl with this name would almost certainly spend a lifetime of having people assume her parents were REALLY hardcore Beatles fans.
Too me, there’s too much association with famous people ([name]Paul[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Jesse[/name]). It’s a cute name otherwise, but I’m partial to the whole last-names-as-first-names concept. There aren’t any good nns, though, other than [name]Mickey[/name].
If you’re Beatles minded, then maybe go for something like [name]Starr[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Paula[/name]/[name]Paulina[/name] etc., [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Jayne[/name] etc.

I love it! Strong and pretty.
[name]Both[/name] my daughters have surname names.
aaah, I would love to be able to do that. If I have twin boys, I am naming them [name]John[/name] & [name]Paul[/name]. Good luck! (She can go by Macca for short!)
I like it ALOT- ut only if you’re a Beattles fan… which in case I love it more, because its different that the usual [name]John[/name], [name]George[/name] or [name]Lennon[/name].
Go for iT!
If your NOT beattles fan ou will just have the question for the res of your life… “oh… like paul?” or “are you a beattles fan?” orr the funny ones… “or wheres ringo?”
I know of someone who just named her daughter McCartney… I don’t like it. It’s just so clunky to me and I’m not a fan of surnames unless they hold a connection to family, maiden name, etc.
To me it sounds like a strong name - more suited for a boy.
My name is McCartney [name_f]Danielle[/name_f].
It’s not a style that appeals to me, but it definitely fits in with a current trend and of course you can do it: there are plenty of similar names, eg [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], Mackinley.
These days you could use it. To be honest, I would not be pleased if my parents had named me that, but for all I know, your daughter could end up loving it.
For me, it’s also that I simply think of [name_m]Paul[/name_m] McCartney, who has always irritated me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a personal association though, plus many love him.
[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]
I went to school with a girl named McCartney, her mom was a huge Beatles fan. But honestly I wouldn’t think this generation would get the association.
the name McCartney is on my list.
I love the name McCartney [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] even though it sounds weird
oh my god those are great twin names
