I’m writing about a girl named [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I’m completely set on this name, and it feels so right, but I’m having so much trouble naming her siblings and also choosing her middle name.
I’m such a perfectionist so having the names ‘go’ together like a normal family’s would is more important to me than the names perfectly matching the characters personalities - imo they can grow into the names and make them work anyway. Context is a family raised by American parents in the UK, the parents are very smart (professors at a university) but also laidback and very outdoorsy.
Here are short descriptions of all of them, please give suggestions! (surname is [name_m]Bauer[/name_m], and the parents are named [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]). I need first and middle names.
The eldest, in his early thirties. Has dark hair, a beard, friendly hazel eyes. Works at a publishing company, is very gentle and funny, is a widower (due to a car accident) and has two young children. Huge family man, lives very close to his parents. Was thinking maybe [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_m]Will[/name_m].
Second son, aged about 29. Has curly dark hair and green eyes. Works at a centre for disabled and autistic children as an instructor for outdoor activities like water sports etc. Is very outdoorsy and charismatic, good with people. Very modest, hates attention, has a weird quirky sense of humour. Was thinking perhaps [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] or [name_m]Jacob[/name_m].
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] (like I said, I’m set on the first name, just need a middle). She is 26 years old and has wavy long light brown hair and grey/green eyes. She was very unwell in her teenage years but moved to NYC alone at age 18 to ‘prove she’s not weak’. She works in film and is one of those people that everyone likes. She has a lot of ambition but is not obnoxious. She’s extremely intelligent and wise. I was thinking for combos maybe [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (if i don’t use matilda for her sister)
Third son, in his early twenties. Has shaggy dark blond hair and brown eyes. Is a singer-songwriter and still lives at home due to his lack of success. Got bullied a lot in school, very insecure, his family encouraged him to take a risk and become a musician instead of going to college. He’s very quiet, doesn’t often say much. His songs, though, are breathtakingly emotional and he uses them to let out his feelings. I was thinking maybe [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].
The other daughter. Late teens. Has long blond hair and grey eyes, is very arty and cool, really into weird alternative music. Very talkative and a bit of a hippie and free spirit, one of those people that are just fun to be around all the time. Wants to be a cell biologist. Wanted to call her [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but I really like [name_u]Max[/name_u] for brother one and the two names are very matchy.
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]/[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] both fit, I’d probably say [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] b/c to me [name_m]Luke[/name_m] feels pretty solid, stable, emotionally secure, etc.
