It’s nice, and it does mean “plum jade” if you write it using the characters 梅”. It is important to note that in Mandarin pronunciations of words and names are more complicated - Mandarin is tonal, so the meaning of a word can completely change depending on the pitch of your voice. For that reason, unless you are of Chinese heritage or planning to live in [name_f]China[/name_f], I would consider something else, like [name_f]Mae[/name_f]-[name_u]Lynn[/name_u].
I know a little girl with this name, but spelled [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. I think it’s a very pretty sounding name. [name_f]Meilin[/name_f] could possibly be mispronounced as My-lin, but I like that the spelling is representative of its Chinese origin.
I agree. I would consider another spelling.
I really like the sound of it but I would immediately assume you were of [name_f]Asian[/name_f] heritage
Other than another spelling you may like [name_f]Melina[/name_f], Minellie, [name_f]Milana[/name_f] or [name_f]Mindel[/name_f]
It reminds me of the Chinese name Meiling/[name_f]Mei[/name_f]-Ling, which is pretty. I’d probably assume someone named [name_f]Meilin[/name_f] to be Chinese as well.
