Melanie vs Stephanie

Just out of curiosity as both names are currently my two favourites from our list, which do you prefer?

  • Melanie
  • Stephanie

If you have a reason why you prefer one over the other for me, I’d love to hear it! :two_hearts:

Thank you!

i’m sorry, i don’t have a proper, rational explanation

i’m not a fan of the nickname mel, and melanie is very orange to me (melon-y ??) so just doesn’t ?? look nice

basically, stephanie feels cool and lilac and retro and fun and carries the lovely nickname stevie, while melanie just feels a little like someone’s fake-tanned mum

Team [name_f]Melanie[/name_f].

I don’t love the full name [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], but I think [name_u]Steph[/name_u] is a cool nn.

[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] just flows. I also like the nn [name_u]Mel[/name_u] with it.

I like [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] more! [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] feels dated to me and like it’s overused at this point. I think [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] is really pretty.

One of my closest friends is a [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]

[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] feels a lot more mean-girlish than [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] to me. I’ve also known more in my age range, so it feels more tired. I do like [name_u]Lanie[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] though!

Have you considered [name_f]Melody[/name_f]? I think it’s just dis-similar enough to [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] that you could get away with using them as sibling names.

I think I personally prefer the liquid sounds of [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]. But they are pretty equal in vibes/style for me, so I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

I prefer [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] because it makes me think of little [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] from Full House!

What a tough choice! I love [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] for the nickname Stephie which I just find so cool but I think as a full name, I slightly prefer [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]. There’s something warm yet dark about it and it reminds me of The [name_u]Magic[/name_u] Toyshop so it’s got a literary feel too!

i chose melanie, because she feels 60’s cool to me, and that’s a style i like! i also know a melanie, and i like her a lot!

stephanie is great too, but it’s more of a 90’s feel and i had a bad experience with one. so not my style!

i like stephanie best for you, but both are lovely!

I prefer [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]! It’s probably influenced by the fact that I’ve known a few, but [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] feels like it’s more wearable for all ages, whereas I can only see [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] on an adult.

As a singular name, [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]. When considering nicknames, [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (solely bc of [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

Def [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]! [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] is nice but I prefer [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] to it. Idk the vibes are a bit off for [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] for me, it has a nice sound but it kinda feels mean girlish for some reason, I also knew a pretty good amount in school in feels more dated to me than [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (which I’ve met of all ages). I also especially like [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] for the nn [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]!

I worked with a [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] and she was the sweetest little kindergartener !! Made me really love the name !
