What do you think about the name [name]Mercedes[/name]? I know it’s a car, but I really love the name! I have some different suggestions on names - [name]Kimberly[/name], [name]Skye[/name], and [name]Kirsten[/name]. Can you tell me which one you like best, or if you like any of them at all? Also, do you have any other suggestions? I would love to gear them! Thanks!
The car was named after the inventor’s daughter - [name]Mercedes[/name] (first name) Benz (last name). I think its a nice name, I’ve heard a woman or two (of Latin/Spanish origin) with the name. There’s a woman who writes science fiction for teenagers named [name]Mercedes[/name] Lackey. Its a legitimate name.
[name]IMO[/name], [name]Kimberly[/name] and [name]Kristen[/name]/[name]Kirsten[/name] seem very 1980-early 1990’s. Maybe [name]Carys[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Keira[/name], or [name]Chiara[/name]?
I think [name]Mercedes[/name] is beautiful! I have a little girl at work with this name and it’s very exotic and pretty.
I think [name]Mercedes[/name] is lovely. [name]Portia[/name] too for that matter! I really don’t think of them as car-names
[name]Kirsten[/name] is my favorite of your middle choices, but it feels mismatched with [name]Mercedes[/name]. I might pair it with something sleeker…
[name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Leonor[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Noemi[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Lucia[/name]
Merecedes [name]Alessandra[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name] [name]Alessia[/name]
I like it as a name, but every time I see it (usually on doctor’s office news boards) I can’t help but think “how overdone/trendy.” No offense. I think [name]Skye[/name] and [name]Kirsten[/name] are nice enough, just that I’d like to see something more fresh and unexpected, like [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Carys[/name] or [name]Graciella[/name]
I too think that [name]Mercedes[/name] has a very trendy feel to it and feels very unoriginal. But I do like the other names you have listed! I love names from the '80s and '90s, so [name]Kimberly[/name] really appeals to me. [name]Skye[/name] is beautiful in both look and sound. [name]Kirsten[/name] has always bothered me because I knew Kristens before I ever heard of the name [name]Kirsten[/name], and so I’ve always felt like [name]Kirsten[/name] was a typo for [name]Kristen[/name]. [name]Kimber[/name]
I know a few people named [name]Mercedes[/name]. I like it, though personally I don’t think I’d use it, maybe as a second name? From your list, I also like [name]Kirsten[/name].
This won’t be a popular opinion, but I find it low brow to name children after luxury status brands. I’ve seen a lot of [name]Mercedes[/name], [name]Lexus[/name], [name]Bentley[/name], [name]Armani[/name], etc in recent years and I just think it screams “overcompensating”. However, I realize that [name]Mercedes[/name] is an actual name, but 99.9% of the population is going to view it as you naming your child after a luxury brand.
I think [name]Kimberly[/name] could be really cute. It’s been out of favor for nearly 30 years, so a [name]Kimberly[/name] now could be fresh and fun. [name]Kirsten[/name], to me, is a pretty timeless name. [name]Skye[/name] isn’t my style, but I can see the appeal of nature names and I think they really suit the personality of some parents (I know a hiking fanatic with children named [name]Fern[/name] and [name]River[/name]).
I have a cousin named [name]Mercedes[/name]. They call her [name]Sadie[/name] a lot of the time. It does automatically remind me of the car which I don’t like. I dislike the name [name]Bentley[/name] for the same reason. That being said, it has a nice ring to it and is a legitimate name and a nice meaning. Your other name choices aren’t really my cup of tea. I think [name]Skye[/name] would be my favorite. [name]Kimberly[/name] is too dated and was never appealing to me and I was never a fan of [name]Kirsten[/name]/[name]Christine[/name] type names.
It’s okay. To me it sounds aristocratic and very Catholic. However I don’t like the English pronunciation at all - [mer-CEH-des] is much nicer.
[name]Mercy[/name] is nicer on an English speaking woman.
I think most people worth a damn know the difference between [name]Mercedes[/name] and names like [name]Lexus[/name], [name]Bentley[/name], and [name]Armani[/name].
I was actually going to say I think of it as somewhat grandmotherly, as I know a lot of women in the 60+ category with the name, especially among Latinas who are in no way lowbrow. I’d love to see it on a little girl. Such a gorgeous name. If somebody says, “you’re named after a car!” that’s a pretty quick way to suss out who’s really ignorant.
I like [name]Mercedes[/name]. I think Cede is a cute nn too! All of your names would work on a child to me. My second choice from your list would be [name]Kirstin[/name].
I think [name]Mercedes[/name] is fine but you will run the risk of people thinking you named her after the car brand although its totally a legitimate name.
[name]Kimberly[/name] does seem a little dated (probably because I knew a lot of Kims growing up) but it is still in the top 100 so its not like it’s just a Mom name.
[name]Skye[/name] - NMS
[name]Kirsten[/name] - This is my name. [name]Just[/name] beware everyone will call her [name]Kristen[/name]. When they call for [name]Kristen[/name] at the doctors office I just know they mean me. And when it’s not [name]Kristen[/name] people don’t know if its Ker-sten or [name]Keer[/name]-sten. I pronounce it [name]Keer[/name]-sten. Most people say Ker-sten. I like having a more unique (but classic) name, but I hate having to correct people all the time.
I have loved [name]Mercedes[/name] since I read “The [name]Count[/name] of [name]Monte[/name] Cristo” as a kid. I don’t think that you will get too many people who think of the car. It is a beautiful name, imo.
Ditto, It’s been one of my favorites for a long time. And I’ve met some pretty wonderful ladies named [name]Mercedes[/name] and both [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] are cute nn. I think it’s a great choice and love to see somebody considering it.
I have too many bad associations with the name.
I went to high school with two girls named [name]Mercedes[/name] and they were constantly in detention and always fighting and being crass.
I don’t think a modern [name]Mercedes[/name] is very classy, but that’s only because of the two I’ve known.
