Currently watching The Last Kingdom. And I can’t help but just love the name Mercia ! I am English and I think this name is amazing. Thoughts?

Oh it’s lovely!! It reminds me of [name_f]Mercy[/name_f], which is such a lovely name for a little girl. Mercia has all the lovely characteristics of [name_f]Mercy[/name_f], but with more of a curious and exotic flair.

It was the name of the middle section of [name_f]England[/name_f] in old [name_f]England[/name_f], during [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] the Great reign. Soooo cool.

It sounds more like a girl name to me. I prefer [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]

I think it feels more like a feminine name because of visual similarity to [name_f]Marcia[/name_f]. Agree it’s cool though!

SAME! I think it could very much work for both genders. Something about hearing it on a boy though

I have to admit that when I read the thread title, I assumed you meant it for a girl. I guess it’s the similarity to [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcia[/name_f]. I think it could work for a boy, but you would probably get a few double-takes. But it does have a cool history and I can see the appeal.
