Meredith or Beverly?

Which do you prefer? We’ve been really set on [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] for our girl (especially leaning towards [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] today  ) but today my husband was reminiscing about growing up on [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] and I was thinking “that’s such a pretty name!” HA! What do you think? Is it too guilty pleasure or would it actually work? My husband thinks I’m nuts for what it’s worth  So it’s [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] vs [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]

Both names are lovely, but [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] just wins it for me. I’ve always loved the name [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]! Also I love the nn [name_f]Merry[/name_f]/[name_f]Meri[/name_f] that you can get from it. [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] is very nice and I have a lot of fond connections with the name, but I just don’t think it’s as pretty as [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

I honestly like both [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Beverley[/name_f] the same. [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] however is so pretty and I love [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as a middle name.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] sounds better than [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] with your boys names, so I would pick [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. [name_f]Merry[/name_f] would be so nice with your boys names! I honestly don’t like [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], I just don’t enjoy the way it sounds at all, but it’s not unusable as a name for any reason as far as I’m aware.

Definitely like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], but if your husband wants to include [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], why not [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Beverly[/name_f]?

I would go with [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! Especially now that [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is getting so popular (#107 in the US last year), [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] might blend in with it. I also agree that [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] fits better with your boys’ names.

I prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as well! But you could also go with [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is my favorite of any of the options, though.

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

Another vote for [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]! [name_f]Beverly[/name_f]'s not quite back in style yet. [name_u]Everly[/name_u] feels like a more modern update that sounds almost the same, but then you would lose the personal reason behind [name_f]Beverly[/name_f]. Still, if you love the sound of [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u] might be worth considering. (I still like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] more, though.)

However, if you did decide to go with [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], I wouldn’t use [name_u]Lane[/name_u] as the middle name. Naming her directly after the street, both first and middle, is a little too much, I think! If you’re fine with the initials, [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be very similar sounding.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u], for sure! So beautiful. [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u], and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] all work. Good luck

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is a name I have liked for quite some time. When I get into name discussions with my boyfriend he thinks it’s hideous! So, use the name if you can. It’s so pretty and classy.

I’m one that tends to see both [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] in that ‘dated’ category myself, however I do think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is and has been in recent years, making quite a comeback and would work well on a moden child/teen. I cannot say the same for [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], which I feel is still very much stuck in the past.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is lovely, and as your husband thinks you a bit crazy for considering it, I’d say sticking with the original might be your best bet.

I like both, but [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] more. Also, she will have her own first initial not shared by another child.
