Meredith?

Hey there,
Sorry, we are still waffling on names for our lil girl coming in 6 weeks. I’ve been batting around so many names that they are seriously all starting to just blur together. I even dreamed last night about going through Nameberry lists, so clearly I am obsessing by day and night! Ugh…

I like so many names in lots of different styles but haven’t found the one! Our first daughter is [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and our last name is Moorehead. We lean toward unisex names but feel like this girl needs something a bit more feminine, though still strong.

We did a poll earlier, and from it our top contenders were: [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] (we would call her [name_f]Luci[/name_f]) and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (might call her [name_u]Scout[/name_u]). [name_m]Both[/name_m] of those names are fine but neither of us feels they are perfect. We may just keep them in mind and see what we think when we meet her, but in the meantime, what are some others??

What do you think of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]?!

ok, so either y’all are understandably sick of my indecision, or you just don’t like the name [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]?! bump

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is a serious & intelligent name choice, but it lacks something in the way of flair and beauty. Still, it covers the most important bases for a girl’s name that will serve her well as an adult.

Though I agree with you, rkrd, about it being serious and intelligent and well-suited for an adult, I think it can be “cutesied up” with the nickname [name_f]Merry[/name_f]! Or [name_u]Red[/name_u].

In order of my personal preference, this is my favorites list sound-wise with your LN:

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Moorehead
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] Moorehead
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] Moorehead

I for one love the name [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] (it’s mine!) and I’m 32. I may be biased but I think it sounds elegant and intelligent. I am struggling on a girl name right now for our TBD baby due in Dec. and I want something not too trendy and something that won’t be another [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] in 6 years, not an easy task but it is fun!

We are liking [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] at the moment but that could change next week, which is what I’m afraid of.

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] but its because I love this NN - [name_f]Meredy[/name_f]

What about [name_f]Calista[/name_f]? I feel like it is along the lines of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] but more feminine and it has a lot of NN options if you would like. [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f].

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] & [name_f]Calista[/name_f]

Or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] sound cute together too.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] has a very different feel than [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], but it’s a lovely name that feel very sophisticated.

What about?
[name_m]Isadore[/name_m]?
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] {and} [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] would be a terrific Welsh unisex sibset.

I have long loved [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

It’s strong and spunky like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]!

I really like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], much more than [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], to be honest. I like that a [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] can be [name_f]Meri[/name_f] or Mer if she doesn’t want to go by her full name.

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] a lot. It would be on our list if I hadn’t known one growing up. [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] isn’t a name I like, but I think [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is very cute. I think [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] sound great together, very Welsh unisex as PP said. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Meredy[/name_f]!

[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_f]Ora[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Selby[/name_u]
[name_u]Tegan[/name_u]
[name_f]Trilby[/name_f]

I love [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is an absolutely perfect sibset. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are strong with a bit if spunk. I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] inifinitly better than [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]. And tons of cute nicknames for [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

I love [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]!

[name_m]Palmer[/name_m]…?

I love it! Welsh and non-frilly and capable-sounding, like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. Nicknames [name_f]Meri[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] are a plus. I like it even more than [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], and I really like those (you never hear [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], but should!).

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is really pretty and sound very nice next to sister [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. Definitely a name that a little girl can grow into. I do like it far more than [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] (while it’s a pretty name, I know a very nasty person named this so unfortunately…) though [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is pretty too.

In order of preference:
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]

I think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] goes beautifully with big sister [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]! [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] has great nickname options ([name_f]Merry[/name_f] is my favorite, but [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_u]Red[/name_u] are cute too) and it actually is a unisex name, though it’s mostly used for girls now, so it goes with your fondness for unisex names and your desire to use something a bit more feminine.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is one of those names that I like in theory but is just a bit too sultry for me when it comes to using it on an actual baby (nickname [name_u]Scout[/name_u] helps make it a bit more innocent and less sexy lady-ish, though) and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] is darling (you could call her [name_f]Cindy[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] Who as a pet name, aw), I think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is my favorite choice with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], though.

I really like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]! I think it goes very well with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] are perfect together, I love the name [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], and definitely love it more than [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f].

Thanks all! I think I’m the worst at this… [name_m]Just[/name_m] can’t decide. I agree with all your comments, and just still not sure [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is it. So this may not be the last you hear of me!

I strongly favor [name_f]Luci[/name_f]. [name_f]Luci[/name_f] Moorehead sounds wonderful and goes splendidly with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. I dislike [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], though ([name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] the Clown!). [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is nice, too.

As for [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], it’s okay. It doesn’t work well with your last name, though.
