Meredith

Is the name [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] usable in your opinion? Is it too tied to a certain generation? Is it too [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy?

I really like the name, and I admit I fell in love with it because of [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s (along with a lot of my names), but I don’t know if it’s too much of a ‘mum’ name or something of the sort. I personally know no Merediths so I can’t comment on it whatsoever, which is where I need the help. It’s only a name up in the air right now and I would just like your thoughts on the name. A nickname I’ve thought of is [name_f]Merry[/name_f], but I’m not 100% on that. I do like Mere (pronounced just like the first syllable in [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], so ‘mair’), but that is [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s nickname so maybe I’m pushing it with that.

I’ve never seen [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy, so that is definitely not a reference I’d jump to. I think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is a [name_f]LOVELY[/name_f] name and very, very usable. It doesn’t scream any one particular generation to me. [name_f]Merry[/name_f] is a cute nickname that makes sense.

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], it’s pretty

I’ve never actually watched an episode of [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy, but I am aware that the main character is named [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. But I didn’t think of it until you pointed it out. So you’re save in my book

I love the vintage charm that [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] has. And the nicknames [name_f]Merry[/name_f] and [name_f]Mair[/name_f] make it very accessible, imo.

Other NNs you could try are [name_f]Mamie[/name_f]/Maimie and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], normally used for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but I think they work with [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]

It’s very usable! I love it, its a gorgeous name. Very elegant.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is definitely very usable. I don’t think most people will associate it with [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy, to be honest.
I would add it to your list!

I think it’s very underused

I love [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. [name_f]Merry[/name_f] is adorable, and so is [name_f]Mair[/name_f]. There’s also Meridon and Meridian if you want other “[name_f]Mair[/name_f]” names, though I don’t think either is a proper name if that’s important to you. I don’t personally associate [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] with [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy, but I am aware she’s the main character. I say yay to [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

I don’t watch [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy, but to me, [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is a male name.

I know two Merediths, one around 35 and the other around 25, but I don’t think its dated, seems like a timeless name to me!

I don’t think of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], I never watched [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy but I am very familiar with it. I think most people have encountered the name somewhere else, it’s not as though that character is the only [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] around!

It sounds quite whimsical and middle-ages-y to me, like it would belong to a Lady in a story about feudal Europe, yet it’s still modern enough that I don’t think most will think that.

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] make an awesome sibset! And [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is another cute NN option.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is a fantastic name! One of my friends growing up was named [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], well-mannered and well-liked, upper middle-class, fairly popular - she turned out to be a super smart, successful and beautiful grown up!
