[name_f]Do[/name_f] you see [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] as a more masculine or feminine name?
I had always assumed it was a masculine name, but when you search nameberry for it, primarily Girl’s forums come up.
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is a name I liked before we even conceived #2 and pitched it when we first got pregnant. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband consistently vetoed it because it sounded like a [name_m]Boy[/name_m] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] badge to him. But, he has suddenly decided it is one he doesn’t hate.
I let go of it so long ago that now I’m not sure if I’m as in love with it as before.
But, y’all, I cannot find a name that feels like “the one” for this boy. I apologize for being so obnoxious on here, but my husband has been absolutely no help. He will consistently bash a name, then suddenly months later suggest it as if it’s a new name he’s never encountered before. He will tell me he likes something one day, then the next time it comes up he hates. I get that opinions change after marinating on a name for a while, but he literally puts zero thought into names until I bring them up then vetoed everything but suggests nothing.
I think part of what’s holding me back from loving [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] as much is I love the combos from my prior lists as combos, but not sure I can picture them on our child. I haven’t found a middle with merrit that feels super special. But the combos that I’ve posted before that I love just don’t feel like “it” or my husband isn’t game for them anymore.
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is a super cool, truly unisex name to me! Nobody outside of nameberry has probably ever heard of it, and the word isn’t used very often. [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] is cool!
I like for both and have known both gender of Merritt’s!
I went to college with a female [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] and always thought that was such a cool name. The male one I knew was of my grandparents generation and I always loved that too! I think it easily works for either gender.
I like [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] and [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] [name_m]Flint[/name_m] from your list! I do like a more traditional male name paired with it for a boy. And congratulations!
[name_u]Eh[/name_u], men… I say pick the one you love since you are the one doing all the work anyway!
[name_f]Marit[/name_f] is a very feminine name in my homeland (EU), and [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is pronounced exactly the same, so to me it sounds a bit feminine. But I mean, I’m from a small country and [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] sounds super masculine and epic-cool! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] reads male to me, especially with this spelling.
What about making a list of, say, five of your very favorite combos? Switch them out as you wish as your due date gets closer. When baby boy arrives, you have a list you like for your husband to choose from. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought, since his mind changes so much.
