Merritt?

[name]Hi[/name] everyone! What does everyone think of the name [name]Merritt[/name]? What kind of child do you imagine?

I find the Merit spelling vastly preferable.

I imagine a small, delicate, dark-haired little girl. She is sweet, sensitive, and just a little bit shy. All in all, Merit seems like a very well-adjusted, likeable child.

I have only met one [name]Merritt[/name] in my life and that was in high school at a [name]Junior[/name] League banquet. So my image is of a rather WASP-y, social girl from an upscale family.

I’m no good at imagining people attached to names as I feel names will fit whoever they belong to.

I love Merit though

I like it for a boy, but not so much for a girl. Though, I do think the nickname [name]Merry[/name] would be very sweet. I picture an outspoken, bubbly, privileged redhead.

I prefer [name]Merritt[/name] with only one T at the end.
I imagine a young girl (maybe 10) with wispy blonde hair and sea blue eyes, and dimples. She is a gorgeous child and incredibly smart.

I went to school with a Merit-- a boy.

i go to school with a [name]Merritt[/name], so i imagine a very pretty sociable girl with brown hair that is nice to everyone. Overall it is a lovely name

Never met a person but [name]Merritt[/name] Island is a place here in FL so I consider it unisex. It has a beachy feel but it’s also the home of the [name]Kennedy[/name] Space Center so I think of astronauts

I like it with only one t, but for a boy.

Funny, I just posted my thread including the name [name]Merritt[/name] in a poll. Still debating because of our last name. I love, love the name [name]Merritt[/name]. I associate it with someone I know from childhood who was charming and smart. I love that the double consonants really soften it. I prefer this spelling as opposed to Merit, but that isn’t bad either.

My first thought was ‘boy’!

Merit is the spelling I prefer, first of all. Second, I imagine a smart child, who always has neatly done hair. As a teenager, is on the principals list every term, and loves to read. As an adult, still smart and caring. Lives a great life.

[name]Love[/name] it! It’s on my list currently, although I slightly prefer the Merit spelling. I was watching Nurse [name]Jackie[/name] the other day though and saw the actress [name]Merritt[/name] [name]Weaver[/name] in the credits, so now I definitely like that spelling as well because I [name]LOVE[/name] her character.

Absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] it! I’m partial to it being spelled [name]Merritt[/name].
