[name_f]Merel[/name_f], I very much like the blackbird version

I think [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] is the more familiar spelling, especially with [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] White.

I love both. I especially love [name_f]Merel[/name_f]'s meaning. But [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] looks like a name…idk how to describe it. So I voted for [name_f]Meryl[/name_f].

I think about [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] Streep before [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] but I would spell it [name_f]Meryl[/name_f]. Another option is [name_u]Merrill[/name_u].

[name_f]Merel[/name_f]'s prn. is Mih-rel, like middle, with the mi-part stressed, at least the Dutch prn. I thought [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] was prn. differently?

On this site it says the pronounciation is the same as [name_f]Meryl[/name_f], so I’m not sure. Mih-rel makes me thinke of [name_u]Merle[/name_u] lol like in The Walking Dead.

Thanks for everyones input so far!! I agree that [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] is a bit better aesthetically but I like the meaning behind [name_f]Merel[/name_f]. Hmm…

Definitely [name_f]Meryl[/name_f]. It’s more familiar since it has a few famous associations ([name_f]Meryl[/name_f] Streep, [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m]) and personally I like the look of it better. [name_f]Merel[/name_f] looks misspelled to me - I don’t know if it’s a legitimate spelling, but that’s just my first reaction to it.

It’s a legit spelling and a lovely name with a lovely meaning.

[name_f]Merel[/name_f] certainly looks like a modernized version but I really like it! The meaning is beautiful too!
