Went on a late night ice cream run to Walmart and our cashier’s name was [name]Tequila[/name] prn tuh-kwee-luh. Poor thing
She prn her own name “teh kwee lah” and not “teh kee lah”???
Oh my lord - you’re not in the Central [name]Valley[/name] of [name]California[/name], are you? The regular cashier at the gas station I go to all the time is Tequilla, also pronounced “teh quee la” - wondering if she got a new job. Haha!
I heard her talking with a few other employees and they all prn it kwee not kee.
No ma’am, [name]Dallas[/name], [name]Texas[/name]. That’s crazy! I just don’t understand why a parent would do that to their child.
A girl named Tequilla (pronounced like the liquor) went to a neighboring high school, everyone called her Toky but I’ve always thought it was an incredibly mean thing of her parents to do.
Cashiers and especially Waiters often put bogus names on tags. It helps them to stand out (makes them more memorable to returning customers), its fun, and some people just don’t like giving their real name to 1000 strangers a day. I’m not necessarily saying this is the case with tequilla, but I’m always a bit suspicious when people site cashier’s name tags for weird/horrible names without considering that it might be bogus.
I encountered a Twinkie once.
i know TWO Tequilas who actually pronounce it like the alcohol. Once someone pronounced it Taqweela and the girl acted so annoyed. i was thinking “if that was me i would rather go by Taqweela than [name]Tequila[/name]!”
My boyfriend knows a woman named Trasheena… all i can see in that is the world TRASH
I know of a [name]Chardonnay[/name], a Sambuca and a [name]Calypso[/name] (all sisters). If you had to, Sambuca is probably the best due to the decent nn [name]Sam[/name]
I agree that this trend of naming using alcohol as a your inspiration is not a good one! I know a little girl named Tekate, her parents want people to call her ‘tee-kate’, but the beer with ‘tuh-cot-ee’ as it’s name is pretty popular where they live. Her Aunt and Uncle, firends of mine, just call her [name]Kate[/name].
I disagree - [name]Calypso[/name] is actually a Greek goddess name, which makes it vastly better than being named after an alcoholic drink, [name]IMO[/name].
Bad, baaad.
