Met a little girl named Ireland today

Today when DH and I took [name]Rosalie[/name] to the park, she was playing with a little girl named [name]Ireland[/name]. I thought it was exotic, even though I wouldn’t use it myself. I just thought it was so interesting!
It’s a place name you really don’t hear.

I was talking with [name]Ireland[/name]'s mother, and she said her great grandfather came to Anerica from [name]Ireland[/name]. But she said that [name]Ireland[/name]'s big brother was named [name]Brady[/name]. I thought it was a strange mix, but to each their own!

I thought it was interesting, and thought I’d let you all know because I think that’s the only [name]Ireland[/name] I have and most likely will ever meet!

I know a teenage girl named [name]Ireland[/name]. I always thought she had a “one of a kind” type name, then I found out people are using it on their baby girls. I always thought picking an Irish name was a better way to honor Irish heritage…

The only [name]Ireland[/name] I’ve ever heard of (besides the country, that is) is [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] Basinger’s daughter. I like it in a GP sort of way, but would never use it in real life. I don’t think [name]Brady[/name] and [name]Ireland[/name] are a strange mix considering that [name]Brady[/name] is an Irish name.

I, too, like [name]Ireland[/name] in a GP-ish way. I wouldn’t use it, though, because I don’t think it really suits my favorites, really, and I’ve seen so many negative reactions to it… I wouldn’t want that much dislike attached to my poor daughter’s name. :frowning:

I love the fact that a [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Ireland[/name] were playing together! Two great names! I don’t know if I would ever use [name]Ireland[/name] but it would be great to meet one in real life.

That is interesting. Could be embarrassing if she ever wants to visit the country, though.

I didn’t think of that! If she ever wants to go to [name]Ireland[/name], it would be strange explaining to everyone what her name was.

Her mother called her [name]Irie[/name], which I thought was too cute!

I love [name]Ireland[/name] as a name! I wish I could use it but I just don’t know that I can. I think it is a great way to honor your Irish heritage because it is so obvious. Most of the world would not know that a name like [name]Brady[/name] or [name]Kenzie[/name] was Irish and it detracts from honoring the heritage [name]IMO[/name].

I really like the name [name]Ireland[/name] but I know 3 ppl who’s named or going to name their baby girl that. So I think it is getting kinda popular.

I watched a documentary a while ago on quintuplets and one of the girls was named Irelyn, but that’s the closest I’ve gotten.
I don’t think she’ll have a problem if she visits the country- I don’t think it would be weird if someone introduced themselves as [name]America[/name]…
Actually, there’s an actress [name]America[/name], isn’t there?

It will be a great way for her to get free drinks over here in [name]Ireland[/name] when she comes to visit in 20 odd years time.

I know a little [name]Ireland[/name], but it is actually her mother’s maiden name. She goes by [name]Ila[/name].

I have a good friend with a little boy named [name]Ireland[/name]. It’s not really my style, but it’s grown on me.

[name]Ireland[/name] is my eldest brothers choice for a girl, if/when he has one and his wife agrees. I only know of 1 in real life, she’s under one year old.

I do love the name [name]Ireland[/name], though I’ve never heard of a little girl named [name]Ireland[/name], seeing as I live in the country! Yes, I think it’s far too embarrassing to live in [name]Ireland[/name] and be named ireland. But then again, I have met Scottish men named [name]Scott[/name] and [name]Indian[/name] women named [name]Indira[/name], which for me is too close for comfort! [name]Ah[/name] well, each to their own!

I too recently encountered a little girl named [name]Ireland[/name].

Apparantly, her full name was [name]Ireland[/name] [name]Hope[/name] and big sister was [name]Emily[/name] [name]Grace[/name].

LIke it!
