I was at work today and I was putting away books in the children’s section and there was a mother and her three children, two girls and a boy. I spend a lot of time working around (literally around) parents and their kids, so I hear a fair amount of names. We’re in a small town though, so mostly we get names that are common like [name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Eli[/name] or [name]Hunter[/name]. I was really surprised though, when this particular mother called to her kids to leave.
First, there was a toddler named [name]Una[/name]/[name]Oona[/name]. It took me a little bit to make sure I heard that one right, but it was cool. It’s like every time you say it, you automatically have some sort of accent She was tiny and blonde and it fit her perfectly.
Then there was an older girl, and her mother called her Oliviette, I’m sure of it. I know because I for sure heard that -iette sound and then she called her [name]Olive[/name] for short a few times as well. So pretty.
Lastly, she called her boy- a particular mouthy little gentleman- [name]Ira[/name]. I was like, yes! Finally, someone who isn’t afraid of unisex sounding (to the rest of the world) names! This is very, very uncommon where I’m from. I was literally smiling, it was awesome.
[name]Just[/name] wanted to share something that kind of made my day. You guys get any suprises lately?
