[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone
My gynae has prescribed me with Metformin to help my cycles become more regular and hopefully make ovulation happen. I’m really interested in hearing from those of you who have tried this medication before, and whether or not it helped at all.
I’m starting on 1000mg a day, and have been advised to go up to 1500mg after two weeks providing I don’t have any bad side effects. I’ve read that the side effects can be really awful!

Thanks!
I take 500mg of Metformin each day and have been for maybe 6 or so months so far. I’ve experienced absolutely no noticeable side effects from it. I know that I take less than what you will be taking, which could account for that, but still. I haven’t heard much negative talk about Metformin…it’s Clomid that I’ve heard that about. My doctor originally prescribed me both at the same time, but I’ve been Clomid-free for two cycles so far. What side effects I did experience were from the Clomid.
I still haven’t gotten pregnant, so I can’t really say that it has helped in that aspect yet. However, my doctor said that it could help me lose a bit of weight and help with the possible insulin resistance that comes with PCOS and other fertility issues. It has helped with that, I can tell. My cycles have been more regular and predictable, too, even with me having stopped Clomid! However, I haven’t ovulated while just taking Metformin. It’s confusing, but let’s put it this way…I personally would rather take it than not.
Good luck! I hope this helps you and that you don’t have any negative side effects
I take metformin as well. I’ve been on it for around four months. My dose is only 500mg and I was put on it for my insulin resistance. I haven’t measured using the scale but I have lost weight, it seems to be a pant size maybe two, now most of my pants are too big. Which I guess is a good thing but also sort of annoying. I do have stomach problems which is why I wasn’t put on it earlier. Metformin usually causes more. I think mine has, which is unfortunate for me. I’m not too sure if that’s the cause or if it’s just one of them. I can’t provide any insight on cycles though, as I don’t keep track of mine and they have been regular for a while now. I hope that it works for you and you don’t get any bad side effects.
