Mia Moore too much?

My husband and I are considering [name_f]Mia[/name_f] for our first daughter’s name :o)
Our last name just happens to be [name_m]Moore[/name_m] so this would translate into [name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m] (my love).
We love the name [name_f]Mia[/name_f] but when you say the first and last together it might be a bit too dramatic no?
Is this hoky to do to our daughter? might she get teased?

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks!

I immediately heard the “mi amor” sound and I don’t think I would be the only one. Personally, I wouldn’t use it but then I don’t like alliteration as a rule either. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Mira[/name_f] as an alternative?

I think it’s kind of cute. I agree with mischa on the ‘mi amor’ sound but I find it kind of charming, and it’s definitely not a bad association.

I personally [name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m] is kind of awesome! I’m usually not a fan of alliteration, but that is too precious.

[name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a lovely name, however, I immediately thought of “my love” as well. While not a bad thing, it’s a little over the top, in my opinion.

Maybe you might consider [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f]/[name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]?

I am a fan of alliterative names, but in this case the “mi amor” sound is too much for me. If you are a fan of the sound and the mi amor translation, perhaps you could move [name_f]Mia[/name_f] to the middle spot?

I agree, it’s a bit too much/too dramatic.
Suggestion - Carissima, means dear.

Its a bit much for me. What about using a longer name like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] where you can use [name_f]Mia[/name_f] as a nn?

I really like alliterative names, but this one might be too much.
What about [name_f]Mara[/name_f]? It has a similar sound but not so “hokey” like you said.

I also hear Mi Amore. [name_f]Naya[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] could work. Or something like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Milena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f].

I heard “mi amor” as well. I’m not a fan, even though I do like [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f]/[name_f]Meena[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], Sia, [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Leia[/name_f], etc? Some other posters have great suggestions too. I really like [name_f]Leia[/name_f] and Sia!

I love the name [name_f]Mia[/name_f], but I think with your last name it is a bit much. I would suggest using [name_f]Mila[/name_f] instead, or choosing an entirely different first name and using [name_f]Mia[/name_f] as a middle name. Then you still have the alliteration, but wouldn’t have to use it all the time.

Most people always wants to know why that name was chosen. I think [name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m] tells a story in two little words. With the meaning as beautiful and big as the love ur going to give ur daughter. If this is ur choice go for it. Their is always people that will say its corny, then u got people like me that thinks its amazing and wonderful.

Thanks so much for the suggestions and feedback…I’m thinking if I use it at all it will be as a middle name. Big smiles to everyone :o))) Thank you!

That is really cute!

I didn’t hear the Mi Amor immeadiately, but now that I do I am a huge fan. I like it.

I think it is a nice little nod to “my love” - but how often would people make the connection? People calling out her name, like a teacher is going to put a natural pause between [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_m]Moore[/name_m], and she may choose to change her name later in life when married too. I knew a girl named [name_f]Tera[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u], but it didn’t seem to bother her, or not many people thought about it!

Other alternatives:

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] (pronounced "mee-la)
[name_f]Maliah[/name_f]
[name_f]Myla[/name_f]

I immediatly read it as “Mi amore” and it made me giggle. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Maya[/name_f]?
