Which do you prefer and why?
I really love [name_f]Mia[/name_f], its so sweet and its Not really popular where I live I think
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] used to be a love of mine when i was younger, it was on my very shortlist… however I have grown out of it but I still see Why I loved it so much… its a very pretty name, just nms anymore
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] all the way! Simple and classic.
I personally prefer [name_f]Mia[/name_f], I like it’s sweet simplicity and the fact it fits any personality. It’s fun, spirited, and easy to spell and pronounce.
However, I also love how international [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is and how it has origins in so many languages. It’s also in that sweet spot of well-known but not too popular and can fit any personality. So I appreciate both names a lot!
I love [name_f]Maia[/name_f] (this spelling). I think it’s earthy and sweet and happy!
Personally I pronounce them differently
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] I pronounce My-uh
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] I pronounce [name_f]May[/name_f] - uh
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
I don’t really like the sound of “mee” in names, I feel like it sounds a little young/cutesy, and I don’t like how it looks spelled out.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] is very sleek, pretty, and I feel like it could work for a lot of different people. I also really like [name_f]Maja[/name_f] and [name_f]Maia[/name_f].
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: I also say “mee-uh” for [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and “my-uh” for [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
I prefer the look and sound of [name_f]Maya[/name_f] (my-uh), but it’s very associated with a VS angel kind of girl in my mind*, so it’s very, very hard for me to see it on a child. I think I’d have to pick [name_f]Mia[/name_f] (mee-uh) just for that reason
*this is probably just a me thing though, I don’t think this is most people’s view of [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
I don’t love that [name_f]Mia[/name_f] means “my” in Italian. I don’t love the “me”-centric sound of it, and the connotations thereof.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] avoids all that. And if she likes, there’s the handy little nickname option of [name_f]May[/name_f].
both are adorable, but i think maya will age with her much better
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]. It’s cool, it’s sleek, it’s pretty but not frilly. [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is extremely common where I live so it’s been ruined for me a bit.
I like the sharp sound and flair of [name_f]Maya[/name_f]! [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is sweet too though
As a [name_f]Maia[/name_f] (may-uh) I honestly love my name. In terms of getting called my-ah it does happen a lot because of the spelling but I wouldn’t change it for the world
I prefer [name_f]Maya[/name_f]. It’s less popular (I think?) and I love the different cultural origins and the [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f] association. I also find it more elegant and mysterious-sounding.
I know just enough Italian for [name_f]Mia[/name_f] to read as the possessive adjective for me now, so I wouldn’t use it as a standalone name at this point. I do like the sound of it though, and I would be fine with it as a nickname.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (which I pronounce as MY-uh) is so lovely and versatile and to me feels a bit more substantial than [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. I also like the [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f] tie-in that someone mentioned above.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]. [name_f]Mia[/name_f] doesnt seem substantial enough even though it is beautiful
I like both. I kind of go back and forth on which I prefer, but right know, I prefer [name_f]Mia[/name_f].
[name_f]Maya[/name_f], absolutely! I’d don’t know hardly as many Maya’s as I do Mia’s, which makes us feel special. I also don’t know any Mia’s that I particularly like. I think [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a very sweet name, and I like that its pronunciation works across many languages! It’s cheerful and brisk, heard-of yet not mega-popular. It’s a cute name.
I like [name_f]Maya[/name_f], but I much prefer [name_f]Mia[/name_f]! It has a sweeter, cheerier sound to me.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]! I think it has a bit more strength and power to it, and I have an easier time seeing it on an adult or an older woman, not just a little girl or a young adult.
