Micah

I have only seen [name]Micah[/name] used as a girl’s name once (and that was on TV). What do people think of using [name]Micah[/name] for a girl?

[name]Micah[/name] is a [name]MALE[/name] Biblical name so personally I don’t like it for a girl. Some religious people find using names of the Bible on the opposite gender quite offensive so just because it’s a female name on TV doesn’t mean it works in real life. [name]Mica[/name]/[name]Mika[/name] would be better spellings for a female. I have heard that people who use the name on a female also change the pronunciation (mee-kuh as opposed to my-kuh) which is another problem.

I don’t care for it as a girl’s name.

I think it’s fine. I know a male [name]Micah[/name] and a female [name]Mycah[/name] (this spelling), so I think it works.

Precisely my thoughts.

I really like it for boys, but dislike it very much for a girl.

I like it so much for a boy that it’s hard for me to see it on a girl.

I’ve heard of it used for boys and girls. I’ve only met male [name]Micah[/name]'s so it is hard for me to picture it on a little girl. Cute name

I like this name but only for a boy.

I’ve never thought it was a unisex name. I like it on a boy but wouldn’t ever use it (I avoid biblical names)… I can’t picture it on a girl at all.

I thought it was a unisex nature name (muscovite mica) so I would drop the H and use it if you like it.

I considered [name]Mica[/name] for my daughter cause the mineral has significance for me. I would’ve said [name]Mike[/name]-uh. Maybe you are going for Meek-uh?

If you’re going for the [name]Mike[/name]-uh pronunciation I suggest you drop the H so you have less gender ties to a man in the Bible.

It could be cute in a girly double name like [name]Mica[/name]-[name]May[/name], [name]Mica[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Mica[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]…whatever you like, but a double name could make it even more distinctly feminine.

I see it as a boys name only. My family and I started watching ‘Warehouse 13’ recently and the main girl is called [name]Myka[/name] (said [name]Micah[/name]). It drives me nuts, so I pretend it’s a nickname for [name]Michaela[/name] to calm myself down.

I’ve only ever heard [name]Micha[/name] on a boy as well. I, personally, have used [name]Mika[/name] (Mee-kah) in a story for a female character as well as having know a [name]Mykel[/name] (Mie-kelle) in school.

The first [name]Micah[/name] I met was female. Years later, when I met my first male [name]Micah[/name], I felt awkward and self-conscious saying his name. It seemed so weird.

I like it for both sexes now, but I still slightly prefer it for a girl. First impressions really last.

[name]Myka[/name] from warehouse 13 makes it very beautiful too me

I’ve met females and males named [name]Micah[/name], so I have no problem with it on either gender. Definitely use a blatantly fem. name in the middle though for clarity’s sake!

I really don’t see this as a unisex name; I see it only on a little boy or on a man. I just don’t see it as a girls name, even if it is used as one at times.

I think it’s a sweet name with a lot of charm, but I don’t care for it on a girl. You could go with [name]Michaela[/name] or something like that and make [name]Micah[/name] into a nickname?
