I would choose [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alphonso[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] to honor your grandpa or great grandpa. My personal favorite is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m].
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], tied for me. Good luck. ☆
While alone I prefer the names [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], I really like the sound/flow of [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] tho you love [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to use an honor name when you have such great, meaningful choices. Good luck!!
I vote [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]! Second choice is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], which is equally wonderful. By the way, I just wanted to throw out that [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] Milverton/Magnussen was an antagonist in [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] [name_m]Holmes[/name_m] {the latter in BBC’s [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m]}. He wasn’t a very nice character at all. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] might be a better choice, and I think it’s just as handsome : )
Try to find something that fits and match, pronounce easily, short and sweet
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] rhythm
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] not too bad
Thanks for the input everyone.
Bumping for more votes. I still don’t have a front runner. Its a toughie!
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] is my favorite – I love [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], so this is perfect.
However, I love family middles, so [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] and [name_m]Alphonso[/name_m] would both be great options. I don’t necessarily like using a family name just to use it when you didn’t actually know the person, so I would boot [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] unless you love the name in its own right.
If just considering the names, I like [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] the best. I find [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alphonso[/name_m] a bit difficult to say - I think it’s because my tongue doesn’t like moving from making the sound ‘rels’ to ‘al.’
However, I really like the idea of naming your son after a dearly loved grandfather, so [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Alphonso[/name_m] gets bumped up several notches on the list. Plus, while it may not be as cool as [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], it’s still pretty cool. SO, I think I’m now torn between [name_m]Alphonso[/name_m] and [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] (I love the idea of this tradition!). I voted for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] simply because of the way it feels in my mouth, but I think both would be great.
Thanks so much for the responses. Still have some pondering to do!
