I know I’ll get a lot of backlash for the name [name]Fay[/name]/[name]Faye[/name] (haven’t chosen which spelling I like better), but I’m trying to find a middle name that will both make it easier to present to family and friends and create a double-barrel name, of sorts. I truly believe [name]Fay[/name]/e can stand on its own, but I’d like to be able to call her “[name]Fay[/name]/e —” as well.
My dd is [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Jane[/name], which was largely a compromise name between my more adventurous style and my husband’s love of 80’s names. Classic, timeless names are good, as are Celtic, which my husband likes a lot.
I’d go with a more wordy or longer middle name if you’re going to be brisk and use a nickname as a first.
Sweetie, sit down and listen. I honestly wish my own son was gay. He’s a bit too much of macho man with my husband passing and all. [name]Fey[/name] means precious and campy. On a girl, I think it might be much on a girl with societal patriarchy and she’ll use feminist theory vocab like “heteronormativity”. Basically, she may really be conscious as a girl and all that gender stereotyping. It’s too much darling. Also, it’s cute but would you want that cutesy name on the top of her resume.
Thank you for the suggestions! I do think [name]Faye[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is pretty, and your suggestion, marinadancel17, of [name]Faye[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] prompted me to consider [name]Louise[/name], which is a family name!
Mother dearest, thank you for your advice. I’m not sure I agree with you entirely, but I will consider what you said.
[name]Faye[/name] is one of my favourite names. I don’t know why you’d receive backlash for it, to be honest. I think it’s beautiful.
As for a middle name though, I think it would be best to use a name with more then one syllable, to help with the flow. A lot of marinadancel17’s suggestions are really lovely.
Maybe I’m the odd one out here, but I see no reason why you’d get backlash for [name]Faye[/name]…am I missing something? What’s the problem with it? I think that its adorably vintage and totally ready for a comeback. Also, I know if I were a little girl and found out my name meant fairy I would have been thrilled! It is also my niece’s middle name so maybe I’m biased. She is [name]Emma[/name] [name]Faye[/name], which I think is sweet.
I agree that a longer middle name would be a good choice, especially if you want to use a part time double name. My faves:
I love [name]Faye[/name]! It’s one of my top names right now. I’m considering [name]Faye[/name] [name]Margot[/name], [name]Faye[/name] [name]Elinor[/name] or [name]Faye[/name] [name]Robin[/name]
I love [name]Faye[/name]- I even like the fairy connection, i dont think people call homosexuals fairies anymore do they?? even if they did i think [name]Faye[/name] is a bit of a leap - I would have been happy to have the name.
Some suggestions:
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] (I think names starting with L go really nice with [name]Faye[/name] such as [name]Louise[/name] suggested)
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] is great- I think it would be taken seriously. There are way more cutesy names being given these days. As for middles, I think something longer (i.e, more than one syllable) I think it goes well with your other childrens names as well.
A few ideas (sorry for any repeats!):
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Annabeth[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Paloma[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
I really like [name]Faye[/name] [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Faye[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Faye[/name] [name]Louise[/name].
For some reason, the cadence of two-syllable names with the stress on the second syllable (iambic meter) seems to sound best to me. Examples:
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] (not sure I even like [name]Michelle[/name], but I like the way it sounds)
[name]Faye[/name] [name]Renee[/name] (wouldn’t use because of the rhyming, just using it as an example)
