I’m in a little bit of a situation. We have decided on the name [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] which I know is not to everyone’s tastes but it’s my absolute favorite girl’s name. My late mother’s name was [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] and I wanted to include her name to honor her but I’m not sure how [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] really flows. I know [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is dates but I don’t think it’s awful i just don’t think it works well as a middle. I appreciate any thoughts. Oh and the last name is one syllable.
First, I think [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] more than is fine, especially since it is meaningful to you. I would encourage you to use it as is. Because [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], there are other possibilities too, though:
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
I really like [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]!
[name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is a variation of [name_f]Liza[/name_f], which is a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I really like both [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
Other diminutives and variations of this name include…
[name_f]Aliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Bethan[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], [name_f]Bettina[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_u]Bell[/name_u]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elisa[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ysabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f], Lilibelle, [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Zella[/name_f], [name_f]Zilla[/name_f]
There’s also: [name_f]Analise[/name_f]/[name_f]Analisa[/name_f], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Adelisa[/name_f], [name_f]Julissa[/name_f], Lysandra, [name_f]Talisa[/name_f], Khalisa, Shalisa…
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is my suggestion. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] joined. Perhaps the spelling [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] would be the best one for you? [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] is also good and very attractive. For me, the [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] variations take it too far away from [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] for your purposes.
I like [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] too. [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is nice because it’s meaningful to you. It’s a little tricky to pronounce though because of the SEE-[name_u]LEE[/name_u] sound. What about [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Alis[/name_f] ([name_f]Alice[/name_f])-- using all the same letters as a way to honor?
I think [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is beautiful and my advice to you would be to use it exactly like that, especially since it’s an honor name. I was concerned with things like flow when I named my son, and ended up obscuring the honor name to be used to get a more pleasant sound etc, and while I do love his name, I had to admit that I simply did not use an honor name, that we’ve obscured it so much that nobody will get the nearly invisible nod - and that is my biggest name regret.
I think [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], or [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be super cute
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] is a sweet and lovely name . I adore it!
I think [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] goes with it just fine
