Middle Name Block-Honoring a Maureen Part 2

I posted a while back that we would like to honor my [name_f]MIL[/name_f], [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], with our second daughter’s middle name. Problem is, I just cannot find THE name-the one that makes me head over heels in love like I felt with my first daughter, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f]'s, name. I love the way it sounds, it honors my grandmother ([name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]), and I love to say it out loud, even five years later. We are set on [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] for our second’s first, which, in spite of loads of criticism from family, I’m still loving.

DH wants to use [name_f]Marie[/name_f] for a middle. It’s a classic, common name to balance out our uncommon choice for first, and it is a variation of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] to honor his mom. Also, it’s a middle name I share with my mom and sister, which is a nice connection too. But it doesn’t sing to me the way [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f] does. We’ve had the following suggestions. Any new ones or reasons why the below ones would fit well with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f] would be much appreciated. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to defend DH and convince me on [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as well!

[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Maura[/name_f]
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Maire[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]

I’m also open to considering [name_f]MIL[/name_f]'s middle, which was the self-chosen confirmation name [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. The problem there is that the initials would be DAMG (two last names). Does this seem like a problem? I might consider smooshes of [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] too.

I personally think that [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is lovely, but if it doesn’t quite ‘click’ with you, it certainly doesn’t hurt to keep looking and keep [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a backup.

I really like the idea of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Mariel[/name_f]. You have [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] on your list, but I think that [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] balances nicely with [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and is a bit stronger, simpler and more elegant- which fits nicely with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f]. Plus, it’s only one letter more than [name_f]Marie[/name_f], so your husband might be more open to considering it. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is lovely too- it is a perfect blend of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f], so that is certainly my favourite from your list.

DAMG isn’t the worst set of initials- it’s certainly not the best though. If you really love the middle name [name_f]Anne[/name_f], then I’d go for it.

Good luck!

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] Maureena
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]

I really like the sound of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Maura[/name_f]. [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] is also charming. Honestly, though, I think your hubby’s desire to use the middle name [name_f]Marie[/name_f] makes a lot of sense. I’d go with his gut on this one, especially if were getting the uncommon first name that I really wanted. HTH!

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Mariel[/name_f]! The only other [name_f]Mary[/name_f] variation I can think of is [name_f]Maris[/name_f], which has a cool, ocean-y feel [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. [name_f]Amara[/name_f] has a similar sound but a different origin, so maybe it’s a bit of a stretch.

Best of luck choosing! [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is an absolutely gorgeous name.
