DD [name]Grace[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] is named after family. It’s super important to me. She’s named for my mom’s middle name, [name]Ann[/name], which means grace and for DH’s dad’s mom, [name]Patricia[/name]. We want to honor the other sides of the fam (my dad’s and DH’s mom’s) with our next.
[name]Amelia[/name] was my great grandmother’s middle name. She was an awesome lady who could have given both [name]Julia[/name] Child and [name]Martha[/name] [name]Stewart[/name] a run for their money. We both really love the name (and the nicknames- [name]Amy[/name] (for him) and [name]Millie[/name] (for me)). So that just leaves DH’S mom’s side for the middle name. I don’t mind if the mn is a variant or has a similar meaning to one of the names listed, but I need help coming up with something we both like.
I know [name]Paula[/name] means “small” and [name]Lynn[/name] either means “lake” or “pretty”, but these are the only names that I would like to use a meaning from. I think that using just the meanings from the others would be too far removed to actually honor family. However, variants are up for grabs for any of them. For instance, I was thinking maybe [name]Edith[/name] instead of [name]Edna[/name]. Suggestions?
I love [name]Amelia[/name], and I love family-inspired names! Here are some ideas:
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Paulette[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Pauline[/name] (this is kind of a smoosh of [name]Paula[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]–you could pronounce it [name]Paul[/name]-en instead of [name]Paul[/name]-een
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Patience[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Lynnette[/name] (this is hard to say–a lot of l sounds together)
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Early[/name] (same problem)
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Edith[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Lane[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] (love this!)
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name]'s pretty. I have a 5 year old 1st cousin named [name]Amelia[/name]!
Let’s see if I can come up with anything else:
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Edith[/name] & [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] are really pretty and feel current to me. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] thrills me, actually!
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Myrtle[/name] is actually really lovely. [name]Myrtle[/name] is not everyone’s favorite flowering shrub but it’s one of mine.
Maybe
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Mimosa[/name] in the same sort of vein? A fragrant flower, not well used, maybe?
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] (for Nadale)
[name]Amelia[/name] Lynlie ( combining [name]Lynn[/name] & [name]Lee[/name])?
The only one that’s really giving me fits is [name]Paula[/name]. [name]Pauline[/name] & [name]Paulette[/name] are the only two that don’t end in ‘a’. And [name]Amelia[/name] sounds too sing-songy with an 'a’ending middle.
So that’s where my brain stops working. [name]Hope[/name] it helped!
love love love [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. and if im thinking this through right, the names honor each of your great-grandmothers. very sweet.
Hooray! I’m so glad there’s a general consensus for [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]! We really like this name, but I wanted to think about as many choices that I could. Thanks so much for all of the amazing help! You guys are wonderful!
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
Now all I have to think about it a super cute nn to go with [name]Gracie[/name] [name]Pat[/name]. [name]Millie[/name] [name]Rue[/name]? [name]Amy[/name] [name]Bee[/name]? Maeby?
It looks like you’ve decided, and [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] is lovely (I’m partial to [name]Amy[/name] [name]Rue[/name] or [name]Mia[/name] [name]Rue[/name], myself) but here are some that I came up with:
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Gretchen[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] ([name]Marguerite[/name] means ‘daisy’ in French; kind of a stretch)
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Marjorie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Pauline[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Paulette[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rivka[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Myrtle[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Eithne[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] Sayuri (‘small lily’ in Japanese)
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (combo of [name]Paula[/name] and [name]Earl[/name], also a gem like [name]Ruby[/name])
