Could anyone please suggest some middle names for [name]Amelie[/name]? I can’t seem to find the perfect middle name. I’ve toyed with [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Camille[/name] and I’m currently settled on [name]Kate[/name] but I don’t love it. Does anyone have any better ideas?
Sure-- can you give me a rough idea of the surname (i.e. # of syllables, beginning and ending sounds)?
It will depend greatly on the pronunciation, French v. English.
[name]Amelie[/name] in the French way (ah-meh-[name]LEE[/name]) is a three-syllable name with the stress, and a rising tone, on the third syllable. Whatever you choose to follow, it cannot have its emphasis on the first syllable, and a monosyllabic middle name will not work.
Ex:
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Alexandrine[/name] (emph. on final syllables in both)
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] (emph on final syllables in both)
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Soraya[/name] (emph on syllable #3, then #2)
Does not work:
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (ah-meh-[name]LEE[/name] [name]ROSE[/name])
[name]Amelie[/name] in the English way ([name]AH[/name]-muh-lee) is emphasized on the first syllable, and ends on a falling tone. It rhymes with [name]Romilly[/name]. A monosyllabic or first-syllable-stressed middle will work fine.
I actually know an Amélie [name]Rose[/name], I believe “Amélie-[name]Rose[/name]” is also considered a compound name, I can’t find INSEE data but I’ve seen it pop up on forums.
I like Amélie! My best friend was actually Amélie [name]Marcheline[/name], which I find just so stunning. I really don’t know what else to suggest, haha, but I think something like Amélie [name]Eloise[/name] or Amélie [name]Georgia[/name] would be lovely.
Good luck!
ETA: I always though my friend’s FN (Amélie) and her little sister’s MN ([name]Odette[/name]) would make a lovely pairing, too. Amélie [name]Odette[/name]?
I took it to mean “does not/will not go together” but I think it’s been used often enough and possibly as a legitimate compound name proving it does work but if I’m wrong I apologize.
Typo on my phone please excuse errors and autocorrections
