We’ve decided on a boys name—Clay [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] but it’s been a challenge to agree on a girls name. I was set on [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] “Lucie” [name_f]May[/name_f] to honor my mother and his grandmother but he didn’t like it. So I sent him lists of names and asked him to write down 20 that he liked. I did the same and when we compared we had one name the same—Clara. I tried to send him lists that would speak to his interests like “Cowgirl names for girls.” We both had fun with the exercise and for awhile we settled on using [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Now I’m the one that’s unsure about using [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I suggested [name_f]Cate[/name_f] and he is in favor.
Our son and daughter both have long biblical middles so this is our chance to make or break a pattern. So far we’ve only looked into keeping the pattern. We both like [name_f]Cate[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and I’m beginning to favor [name_f]Cate[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. With three different girl names in the first 23 weeks of pregnancy, I’m not sure where we’ll land.
[name_u]Mack[/name_u] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
[name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] or [name_f]Cate[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]?
I like that both [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are vowel heavy and have a zippy “z.” I like that [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] appear in the Bible together. Also the meaning of [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is “God gives graciously” and to have a daughter without experiencing perinatal distress a second time would certainly feel like a gracious gift from [name_m]God[/name_m].
