[name_f]My[/name_f] husband & I are expecting our first little lady in late [name_f]September[/name_f]/early [name_f]October[/name_f] of this year. We’ve been talking names for oh… 7 months, & he’s totally stuck on [name_u]Ash[/name_u] (not short for anything, just [name_u]Ash[/name_u]). At first I was pretty resistant, but now I’ve actually warmed up to it. The middle name we had originally picked - [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - doesn’t really mesh will with [name_u]Ash[/name_u] + our last name (Hedges), so now we have to figure that out as well. I feel like I could really dig the name if we can find a rad middle name that makes the whole thing sound lovely.
What do you think sounds good ([name_u]Ash[/name_u] ___ Hedges)? We love earthy, new-agey names, so toss your wildest suggestions my way! xo
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] as a standalone name is very interesting and cute. I think it works in a roundabout way because so many [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]'s and [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]'s are periodically shortened to [name_u]Ash[/name_u]. Anyway, how about…
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] Hedges
[name_u]Ash[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u] Hedges
I’m with [name_f]Gabriela[/name_f], [name_u]Ash[/name_u] Hedges is really hard to say and [name_u]Ash[/name_u] is something a fire turns things to when burned. Would you go for [name_f]Ashlynn[/name_f] nn [name_u]Ash[/name_u]? It means dream which is really cool.
There’s a cigarette brand called [name_m]Benson[/name_m] and Hedges. Coupled with the first name [name_u]Ash[/name_u], I think the name has too many “smoke” associations.
[name_m]How[/name_m] 'bout making her first name [name_f]Ashleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] or [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] (Alice?) etc and having the NN [name_u]Ash[/name_u]? I know you’re not sold on that option…but it’s nice if your child has a ‘formal’ name option IMHO.
I really love [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] - you think [name_u]Ash[/name_u] is an appropriate nickname? Personally I am totally fine with a formal name, like [name_f]Ashlynn[/name_f]. But hubby is being rather persistent. I think I will just need to talk some sense into him (;
I prefer [name_u]Ash[/name_u] for a boy, and use it regularly as a short form for friends named [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. Though I really like the name for a lad, I feel like your daughter my get a few eye rolls for [name_u]Ash[/name_u] Hedges. Too much wood in one name I think, but that’s just me
