[name]Hi[/name], I’m a new poster here but a long-time reader. We’re expecting our second child (gender as yet unknown) next month. We’re pretty set on first names, but middle names are giving us problems. I’d love any feedback or suggestions for other middle names. Our list, a mix of ideas from my husband and me, is below. Our daughter is [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name] ([name]Betty[/name]). We’d plan on calling our boy [name]Benedict[/name], not [name]Ben[/name].
I like [name]Benedict[/name] [name]James[/name]. Are you French? Some of those middle names might be hard to pull off unless you’ve got the heritage to back it up.
[name]Benedict[/name] is so handsome and stately. [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is very common and down-to-earth, so I feel like [name]Benedict[/name]'s middle name needs to bring the name down a notch or two (if that makes any sense). [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] and [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Michael[/name] are my favorites.
Thank you for the suggestions! I will share these with my husband.
Linguaphile, the French middle name options are family names. This baby will be the fourth generation born in [name]America[/name], but the names are still in use by living relatives.
Though I am a huge fan of [name]Ambrose[/name] as a middle name, and applaud the ancient saint combos here ([name]Ambrose[/name], [name]Jerome[/name], [name]Gregory[/name]), I agree with southern.maple that they are a little heavy with [name]Benedict[/name]. I love [name]Benedict[/name], and all of these. But with [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name] I like [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Michael[/name] best, [name]Benedict[/name] [name]William[/name] second best.
